2011-02-27 18:47:05
congratulations to all winners

Few days ago I had no money and absolutely no players good enough to play qualification. I sold two players and in 2days I made superb team (for 1.5M euro totally) which totally ruined my opponent 12:1 today :-)

This is good motivation for those who will want to promote to cypriot first division next time, because I think i would be able to do that with my current team. And If i had little more time, I could buy even better (cheaper and younger players)

Is a little step for you, maybe next season you will promote.

nice game i can say against demetris.

wasnt 2 direct red cards my friend but 4 yellows(thats different) and it could be more cards if you consider first penalty with kavelis running straight ahead to opponent keeper and a defender cut him from behind. penalty yes but no card shown
i choose to play with 1 complete striker and 2 wingers so my team could use more the flanks instead the middle and work really good against your tactic.

i think so Zafer once again was the man of the match for my team and the combo Okkas/Zafer for the freekicks. 2 goals were from freekicks, long ball from Okkas to Zafer and goal.

thats all for my point of you and congrats to all.
have all a new good season

Woohoo!

Arxizei to Mats(8)

A very exciting game, because both teams are equal, because me and orestis are friends and know each others teams very well and we have been thinking about the game for months now and we have been talking and bluffing each other and changing our minds every day

In the end, the game will be played with the most predictable formations ( we talked with orestis and no changes will be made from now on)

So to the match analysis:

Slappers Team Strengths

Wingers , wingers wingers. Orestis have two super wawaweewa wingers - Noah Sinocke and Piosik. Those two are really great players and will be the best players on the pitch.

polpolpol Team Strengths

Striker! Aurburger is a great striker, by far the best in the league currently and can create out of the blue- on his own chances and score goals.

Stamina - In previous encounters my team is always stronger in the second half vs ninja. (more analysis on this later

Tactics

Ninja played around with several ideas on how to approach the game, the main reason being that i would be expecting his standard formation (similar to what he played in the last game).

However, in the end this was a dominant strategy as his wingers are so stronger, and if he plays them in any other position and he does not a get a huge benefit by suprising me, then he would just destroy his advantage.

On the other hand, i have also been thinking the best way to counter Ninja's strengths. My teams usually rely on very close team lines (defence - midfield - attack) and high pressure of defence. However, my defenders at this point in team are much much weaker than orestis wingers and they are out of form.

For that reason, an approach of all out attack by gaining possesion with defenders being very high couldnt work unless i tried to catch off side all of ninjas counter attacks. That however was a very risk approach and i settled for a less risky approach.

Thus, for the first time since a long time in an important game i will be playing with "disjointed" lines. i.e. my defence has long distance from my attack.

In defence, i will be defending with 5, two wingbacks to try and stop wingers from crossing which they wont be 100% succesful and 3 CDs to be able to get the headers from the crosses.

At the same time, i will have 3 players that will not defend at all, and as a matter of fact they will stay very high up the pitch, which will lead to some counter attacks being lost, but it will allow them to stay less tired until the end of the game.

The remaining 2 midfielders, the one will primarily be a Defensive Midfielder and the other will be an Attacking Midfielder which will be my #10, and try to create my game. It will not be very easy as Ninja will also have 3 Defensive midfielders, so creating from the traditional #10 position is difficult.

Attacking Threats

For Slappers the clear attacking threats come from the match up of his wingers vs my wing backs which they will win some times during the game. The wingers are also super passers so once they pass the wingbacks the have the ability to pick a perfect pass.

In addition, Slappers also have a very good striker, that in some positions can receive a forward pass . He is very high in technique so if he manages to avoid my CDs initially, then stopping him from behind will be very difficult and very dangerous.

For polpolpol, the main threat comes from the striker's match up vs Ninja`s defenders. My striker is very fast and very balanced so he can take on the defenders and score - especially near the end of the game that was so important last year.

Another attacking threat comes from the second withdrawn/striker winger. My #11 was decent passing/play skills and i will play him slightly withdrawn and on the right. On that position he is expected to be behind the DM of Slapper`s and in front of the defenders , and the goal is for him to give a quick short forward pass to the striker who will be making a run just behind the defence. Otherwise, he is a good striker and will provide extra width and possesion.

Finally, on the other side of the pitch i will play with a withdrawn winger. My winger is nowhere near Slappers winger and he is expected to lose most matchups vs the defenders. For that reaons, i have brought him a couple of squares back, so he receives the ball away from the defence, and wider from Slapper`s DM. The strategy here is that he receives the ball with a good distance from the defenders and gives a forward pass to the fast striker as soon as he comes close to the defender instead of trying to pass them over.

Finally, a very important factor in the game will be stamina. Stamina, along with the change to a very fast forward near the end of the game is what won me the game last year. Unfortunately this year my main striker is too strong and my secondary are not as much so i wont be able to replicate.

In addition, because my team is disjointed i expected them to be more tired, and coupled with the fact that slappers has improved the stamina of the team, the advantage might not be as strong.

To sum up cos i have to go, a very exciting game with many many many tactical decisions even if it seems that the teams will be playing with a standard formation. Many matchups that i have discussed and many that i havent discussed (throw ins(i have a wierd setup), corners, Goal Kicks (which gives you a lot of possesion)) will decide the game!

Good SLAP
