Subject: [NT] Guatemala

Hello,
I would like to invite you to tomorrow's friendly against Guatemala. I apologize for writing you about it so late. I was fixing some issues with our NT pool system which took me a while.

As you know, it will be the last match of this NT season and also my last match as your NT coach. Guatemala will be playing their U24 squad but unfortunately they don't have enough players so there will be few older reserves too... So it will be a really tough opponent for us. But nothing is impossible! I believe in strength of our team so we can make a surprise :)

Unfortunately two of my favourite players will have to miss that match. Dervis Zoitsas is red carded and Harun Dayioglu is unfortunately injured from last match... So our line up will be far from that dream one of last week.

Yes, he will, as usually ;) Unfortunately Tommis (as quite many great Cypriot players) is stuck in bot team and he has already lost a lot of training :(

So it's all over now... I hope you have enjoyed my last match. I think it was a nice display especially of our midfielders. We were clearly outplaying Guatemala, I could be just disappointed with the finishing... I think that the result doesn't correspond that much to the performance of our team!

True. Our team was better.

very good performance, i only didnt like set of throw-ins in offensive actions and too low defense line when opponents winger was passing

great match for keser and sennaroglu (except that missed clear goal chance). we had just very bad luck, but i belive it will broke .. the more important is that we can outplay opponents of guatemala quality

I beleive if Sennaroglu was set with ATT orders could have scored, an early goal (16'). Anyway, good match. The thing with throw ins is that you only predict and you never know. Sometimes it works sometimes it does not. I have to say it again. Use 4 in line DEFs , 2 Defensive Midf. right in front of them and 2 ATTs.

I agree, those throw-ins were really bad... :( And the defense line, that's almost my typical tactical mistake - I always hurry too much back to our goal...

Well, I don't think so... The order should have no impact on the quality of the shot... My experience is that player with order ATT tries more to go straightforward to the opponents goal, the one with order MID choses often to pass instead... I think in case of Diofantos, it's much better to base his play on his magical (I think) passes than on his excellent striker :)
To be honest, I have brilliant strikers in my team with order ATT and they misses sometimes bigger chances :D

About the tactics, I know that playing only 4 defenders is quite simplier to work out and could have good results... But I think this time, it was a good choice to play 5 defs. I guess that the fifth one protected us against today many dangerous crosses. :)

About the ATT orders you are right. The tactics you have chosen was quite good before the match.
However, where can we see the players skills so that we can have a clearer picture? Can you post them somewhere?

I may put them in the association forum... I don't want to share them with whole world ;)

i only would like to add two more things i noticed

kalyoncu was quite lost on his position, i try to solve similar problem in my team .. you need to cover that space but it doesnt matter who you set there, he will be almost always lost

and second thing i would like to see how it would look if you pulled wingback Ozdill more forward when we was attacking, i quite liked his offensive (in term of defender in sokker) actions
