Dear friends,

The season is getting close to its end and the WCQ group has already ended, so let me summarize it.

WCQ Group

World Cup qualification group was the most important event of this season quite for sure. The simplest conclusion possible would be no big surprise, no disaster. We've won those matches we should have won - against Republica Dominicana and Belarus. And then we've lost all other matches. Unfortunately we weren't any opponent for both Romania and Columbia who destroyed us terribly just by the huge difference in the team quality. Then there was Peru where we stood some chances but still those chances were too low and we lost 2:0 and 2:1 with them.

Friendlies

Well it's too early to judge now as there are still three friendlies to go. So far we have lost with Portugal (3:1) and with Slovakia (1:0) - both after quite an equal match. And then we've scored a great victory against Belgium :)

Quality of our team

It's difficult to say that now. We are undergoing severe problems with our NT database. So I have to analyse that by heart. In the U20 there are many great guys that should clearly help us a lot - just look at our lineup which is composed of many 20yo guys. But still there may appear serious problems - especially in defence.

Adamou is in hands of a manager who doesn't communicate. Base of our defence is 21 years old. But still there are few guys that should hopefully make it :)

So after all - I would call it quite a normal season :) No really big surprise, no big loss. We are still hanging around 50th position in the world ranking and that is quite good (you might remember I was worried many times about our progress in the ranking and it turned out to be quite good in the end :))

Next season, I would like to take a rest and try something different, so I won't put my candidacy. Still I would like to be in touch with Cyprus. I am going to try to become Czech NT coach and see what's possible to do :)
I've talked with Marek0090 if he wants to continue my job and he agreed. So I will give him chance in this friendly to show his abilities and exchange my knowledge with him. If there is someone other interested in taking the job after me, let me know please and you might get a chance next week. But please, take it seriously :)

I would be really glad to hear your opinion to get some feedback :)

Thank you!

Any feedback for me? :)
2012-01-30 23:19:36
I am a bit busy these days, i promise one after Wednesday :)

Thank you mate, no problem :)

Maybe this one can be picked up by a Kypros trainer?

Serhat Pantziaras, age: 17, height: 198 cm
value: 116 000 €, wage: 1 500 €
club: Recycle United, country: Kypros
good form, average tactical discipline

tragic stamina, tragic keeper
very good pace, adequate defender
poor technique, formidable playmaker
poor passing, hopeless striker

By far the best U17 Kypros DEF and MID. 32 midskillpoints and a lot of room to improve very fast due to his low, very fast training passing. Will be a hero in his country. Never popped on DEF and Pace too, so is maybe high on those skills.

He is great, it is nice have such MID :-)
2012-01-31 09:57:03
I would take him if I just had enough money :(
2012-01-31 14:05:35
he is from my academy..nice talent as i remember!!! :)

So, i promised one...here it is:)

First of all, i want to tell you that i understand how demotivating it must be to lead a community that has very low interest in the game. I watch the topics and maybe except the foreign managers who work for our NTs, maybe 5 Cypriots tops wrote in the NT topics this season? I am not really sure if this can change and how, but regardless i admire your persistence and love for the job and for our NT.

Tactically, maybe i am not the most capable guy to judge your tactics, but when i get the chance to see a match and i spot something i don't like i say it and we have a discussion. I feel this is a good way for things to work.
I understand the difficulties, of producing players in Cyprus, keep track of them and developing them since you get very little help from the native clubs, in terms of proper training, high quality coaches etc and i am sure you are doing your best for achieving the best possible results. So, what i am trying to say i guess is that i am happy with how you organized the training and scouting of players.

I would like to thank you for all your efforts and wish you all the best in Czech NT job. (It seems being Cyprus NT coach is a requirement in order to get elected in Czech Rep :P)
So, don't forget about us and hopefully we will see you coaching an other generation of Cyprus NT sometime soon :)

Cheers!

i agree with what orestis said :P

Thank you mates :)

You are right, it would be way easier for me (and I guess for any other NT trainer) if there was more users communicating. The feeling that your work is closely followed is good for the results ;) And I am happy that you gave me some feedback after the matches as it is really good to see others opinion (especially when I am so excited about the match that I forget about following my mistakes, I need to play it once again with an open head ;)) And your notes helped me to get (hopefully) better :)

It's understandable that a small country like Cyprus will have forever problems with players. But still thanks to you and few others, our team isn't that weak - and I still hope we can once make some success (qualifying for the WC would be nice :)) But in terms of training, I must say that Cypriot users were really helpful as we could always solve the matter and make the best possible conditions for their training - either in the home club or somewhere abroad...
There is need to rebuild the our database and check all players we have - and that makes me quite busy now (so sorry that I reply that late).

I hope that I will be able to stay here with you because I really liked these years with you. Even though I will probably become NT coach of Czech Republic, I think I will have enough time to help the new coach and stay here with you :) And hopefully I will come back as your coach once :)

congrats mate

Hey friends, what do you think? Can I arrange the U21 match schedule? It would be better to have it done than make it after elections. But the elections can win probert and he could be angry with me ;-)
so what do you think? and which opponents do you want?
2012-02-04 15:34:31
You mean that Rroberto who was banned?
2012-02-04 15:48:10
That is weird..Anyway, probably choose opponents that we can increase our ranking with. I really don;t care who we play against, as long as we win:)
