Hi guys,
Just came back from a 9 day holiday in your lovely country.
My wife and I had a wonderful time.
We stayed in Lemesos but had a rental car and travelled every day to a different location.
From Polis to Kikkos to Kakopetria, Pafos and many other places.
A beautiful country, warm and friendly people, fantastic food and lots to see and do.
It was a pleasure and I shall certainly recommend it to my family and friends.
Cheers

Love Cyprus!
You should come in the Summer though. It is something else. Like paradise!

I live only 30 minutes away and the weather is the same here in Israel.
I find that I actually prefer to travel off-season when there are no tourists around.
When we went up to Trodos we had snow which was nice and made all the hot dishes go down even better. When we went to Pafos or Polis, the colours of the sea and sky were in every possible shade of blue. The mountains were covered in green and flowers and the slightly chilly weather gave me all the excuses I needed to drink lots of Zivania! :D
I must say though... you guys MUST stop talking on the mobile phones while you're driving! I wanted to kill this one lady who created a slow moving traffic jam up the mountain because she was driving only 20kmh while talking on the phone... lol...
Great times.

Hahahaha, classic! Eventhough woman drivers don't really need a mobile phone to get annoying :P
Next time go to Agia Napa...
Or if you want come now to Romania, outside are -36 and the snow 1-1,5m!

1. No, you are NOT the worse! We are far worse than you! Just to get your numbers straight... Israel has lost (ie killed) more people in car accidents since it was born 62 years ago then all the people we lost in wars!
2. I have nothing against female drivers in particular. My wife is a superb driver! She never goes anywhere, even the local shops at under 140kmh and she drives very well.
3. In Cyprus the problem was that they speak on the phone while they drive all the time. People do that here too but there's lots of police who'll give you a fat fine if you're caught. In Cyprus there was almost no or very little police on the roads. I think all the policemen were hiding from the rain with a cup of metrios inside the roadside restaurants! ;-)
But I don't want anyone to think that I'm complaining about Cyprus or the Cypriot drivers. We had such a great time and the other drivers on the road were very curtious and patient. I just found the use of mobile phones while driving a bit exxagerated. :)
We brought home with us so much stuff... :) I brought 3 huge jars of those sweet dessert walnuts in syrup (glyko), 3 bottles of Zivania, 2 bottles of Commandaria, about 3kg of σουτζούκος, a bottle of carob syrup and more... I think I have gained 3-4kg in weight in Cyprus, let alone all the alcohol I smuggled past the customs in Israel :D

One more thing that was interesting...
The restaurants at the big cities and especially along the coast, charge 3 times more for the same dish you get in a small village restaurant. And usually in the village restaurants it tastes better! In the big cities, the restaurants give you a big plate with little food but for instance, we had lunch in Agros where I ordered lamb chops and I think I got a quarter of a whole lamb plus side dishes for the same price of a starter dish in one of the Lemesos restaurants. Next time I'm in Cyprus, I'm never going to eat in a city restaurant... you drive 15 minutes and get more and better food for half the price in the nearest village.

I have had meze... several times, both meat and sea food.
The best sea food was in a village called Zygi between Lemesos and Larnaca.
Indeed good stuff. :)
