Subject: NT Ireland

I'd like to open a thread for all kind of news about the Irish NT!

I think communication between NT staff and community is very important, and in this thread I'd like to tell what I do and why I do it.

Moreover I'd like to inform in this thread about players who are on the transfer list or in the advertisements and who are in our database.
That will give all the managers the opportunity to see the skills of the NT players and this probably leads in discussions! ;-)

Receiving a SK-Mail in these hours isn't really a good sign ...

I'm reducing the NT squad, all last seasons U21 players who are not good enough to stay in the first team will be fired.

And also some Oldies who I think are not good enough anymore ...

Finally I'd like to have around 30 to 40 players in the NT, the best would be players with many different skill distribution ... ;-)

Anyway, especially for younger players it doesn't mean they don't have a chance in the future anymore!

I've made good experience with reducing the squad at the beginning and then fill it up during the season! ;-)

Anyway chance you could start seperate threads for each topic?

i.e.
1) Squad Changes
2) on the transfer list
3) NT Games

and a seperate thread for each NT game?

who are you anyway and how did you get elected?

What is your vision for the Irish Team?

I was also thinking about separate threads, but since there wasnt enough traffic even in the good ol' Ireland vs. i decided to keep it at that...good luck though

I've been playing Sokker for a while now and I've done ok.
Translation- He has a kick ass team and worked wonders with the Swiss NT

Yes, I was thinking also about different threads, but because like jirka wrote there's not that much traffic here, I decided to only use one!
Otherwise they would be almost only NT threads around ...

Like I wrote, today I reduced the squad "a little bit" ...

Out of the team are:

- Derek MacGinnies
- Jason Hughes

- Richard Barry-Murphy
- Conor Darby
- Joe Phelan
- Colm Colleary
- Sam Cashin
- Clayton Eviston
- Ian Chaudet


Most of these players were from the last years U21 team, now they're 22 and a little bit too weak for the seniors. But they'll have their chance in a few seasons.
Some of these players are oldies, who aren't good enough anymore and who probably won't return to the NT ...

These players are still under 21, I think they'll return when we're playing an U21 match!

I spent most of the day writing mails to the manager, I hope I informed everybody and all managers understand my reasons.

Changes can and will happen in the future, so, if you have a player that I kicked out of the team, please still train him, he might have the possibility to return!! ;-)

Most of those i'd agree with. Clifford, Phelan and Colleary are probably worth their place as squad players. Colbert and Morris possibly.
You should have reasonably up-to-date skills of all the players. Of those listed, only the bottom two will probably survive the cull. I like Diffley but his form has been awful recently.

I think you said you wanted a squad of around 40. When you see some of the other players i think might have to call some of them back up as you'll likely have a squad around 26.

And I'm pretty sure I'll recall some of them ...

Clifford, Phelan and Colleary are probably worth their place as squad players. Colbert and Morris possibly.

- Clifford: He's too balanced in my opinion. And the passing skill is missing ...
- Phelan: Technique is missing, if possible I'd like not to have strikers with less than formidable technique in the team
- Colleary: Same problem as Phelan, but he can be trained there and then will be interesting ...
- Colbert: He's not better than the younger ones, he's mainly out because of his age ...
- Morris: yep, I probably could have kept him ...

The thing about Phelan is we've not had an update on him in about 8 months. He improved massively before his owner left.
