Opponent: Ecuador
Ranking: 79 (31)
Users: 60 (56)
Season: 7 (10)
Coach: pabsaa
Ecuador is the strongest of the 3 opponents in our group, therefore it again will be a tough match!
Kick-off time is 19:00 SK-time, later than usually, I don't think that's bad, our players now have more time to recover from their hangovers! ;-)

I wonder whether the players have the bigger hangovers than you ;-)
I try it! ;-)

It's the last group stage match, and again I'm trying something.
I'll use one very offensive winger, Sanabria in the first and Crossley in the second half. I just want to see which of them looks better. They have very different skills, and because I have a different opinion than other managers (including my assistant) I'd like to test both players on the same position.
That's the main point of the tactic. Beside this we'll play pretty offensive again ...
Again they'll be two DEF-MIDs in front of the three defender, this looks pretty much the same as last week.
I changed the throw-in positions, hopefully they're more effective today ...

That was great- both the wingers did well in my view; In fact our midfield in general looked quick and dangerous. Keenan was excellent again, he seems to get on the end of every cross into the box :)
a landslide victory there !
overkill in the middle with a totally free winger. excelent.
Crossley didnt do well i thought, Sanabria was great.
Of course, Keenan converted about every chance!

gEg:that was your best match as ireland manager so far:)..i dont know what ecuador wanted to archieve by playing with one striker....GRATZ!!
I guess this was the best of these three group stage matches!
I didn't expect Ecuador that defensive ...
But we could put them under pressure, the player most took the right decision and I guess it was an entertaining match to watch.
Keenen is very important when we play against weaker team, he's by far the most effective striker. And there were so many blocked shots today, haven't seen something like this before I guess ... ;-)
No clean sheet, I guess that was my fault! :-(
The defense was too defensive, I tried to create an offside trap but in this case it failed ... though Reidy didn't look too good.
I knew that Ecuador will have some offensive throw-ins because our defenders are not that good in the secondary skills. I expected that the throw-in would go back, and then from there to the middle. So I positioned the defenders in the throw-in square one more defensive than in the other squares. So when making the throw-in our defenders go forward and leave the opponent in offside position.
Well, unfortunately it was a freekick and not a throw-in and the offside trap didn't work ... :-(
Anyway, Sanabria looked better than Crossley, I expected this. Coyne and Dean were outstanding! :-)
Colbert and MacKeamish will be set with order DEF in important matches. They had a lot of give aways, but I wanted them (especially Colbert) to get the additional few percent training! ;-)
A win, we won the group and will now play against Republica Dominicana.

I dont know who we're playing after but it's a good draw
If we win against Repuplica Dominicana, then we'd play against the winner of Perú - Srbija, both very good teams ...
nice game!!
Coyne was unearthly!
I like the tactic very much, but I must say:
the tactic of Ecuador was sooo bad!
You never should put your defenders that defensiv.
If we hadn't have the possibility of long crosses from the MIDs, we wouldn't have had many chances and so we wouldn't have won that clearly...
It was a nice match, but Ecuador played really bad and I guess in the further games the tactic of our opponents will never be that defensive again...
