Subject: [MWC] Ireland - República Dominicana

2008-03-22 11:48:05
Opponent: República Dominicana
Ranking: 65 (31)
Users: 8 (57)
Season: 7 (10)
Coach: Boyta

República Dominicana had pretty impressive group stage matches! They never lost, even though they were playing against Russia and Nigeria, which are both much better teams.
Therefore I expect a tough match, I guess their coach has to be pretty good to achieve that great results!
Nevertheless, we're the favourites and we have to win!

Because Republica Dominicana always played with 2 wingers (or 1 winger and a striker who's positioned not that central), I'll play with a 4 men defense.
I'm using a winger aswell, Sanabria will play there and will hopefully have some good moments.
I'm a little bit unsure about the efficiency of my tactic, we'll see, it would be great if Republica Dominicana is not able anymore to make a surprise!

Post!

72 minute
it clips the bar

I have to find a solution to increase the efficiency of our strikers ...
Keenan was once standing right in front of the empty net an hit the post ...
I'm a little bit desperate ...

Beside this I think the match was ok, we didn't have any problems in the defense, though some out-kickes (or how do you call them??) which I didn't like, but the throw-in situations were never dangerous.

We created some nice chances, most of them missed, in a few situations the strikers seemed didn't shoot ...

Well, if we can't improve the efficiency, then it's gonna be very difficult to win the next round ...

Crossley is the solution to all your problems ;)

The tactics today were fine- like you say we're not converting chances but that will come right. Australia look very strong at the moment but I think we're in with a good chance of beating any of the other teams.

my 2 cents:

the winger crossed tha ball too early. Did you set him to move to the ground line?

why let you the 2 strikers meet for a coffee break int he penalty area? Makes it to less space for strikers.

Def was awesome. Really good tactics there.

What is the skill of your strikers. Remember the time before my ATT got striker training? I was remembered today... But it was the time my striker had solid-excellent skill. I doubt that irelands NTs have this low skill.

Maybe if you give both strikers a little bit more space from each other in the penalyty area helps you to improve efficiency. But this is the only help i can offer.

Anyway, it was a well deserved win and the tactic was really good :)

Gratz..........who r we playing now???
2008-03-22 14:33:10
We're playing either Perú or Srbija.
This match is at 19:00 SK-time.

I'd say Perú looks stronger, probably the second best team behind Australia in this MWC ...

But we'll see ... ;-)

Yep, I set him like I always set a winger ...
But in my eyes Sanabria didn't play that bad. Even with his low passing skill his passes were mostly ok.

Hmm ... I was thinking about it too when I saw it.
So you mean a "conservative" 2-striker tactic?

Depending on the opponents tactic, I might change the positioning of the strikers a little bit.

Anyway, it was a well deserved win and the tactic was really good :)

Thanks, but I don't think the tactic was "really good"! ;-)
It was good, but there's still a lot more to that can be improved! And that will be necessary in the next round! ;-)

Crossley is the solution to all your problems ;)

Because the midfielder had some defensive tasks, I was worried about his low defender skill.
And he's a perfect substitute player, he can play as a winger too, I'm happy to have such a player, it makes the decision who to have as a substitute much easier! ;-)

Well...
incredible how many chances we missed!

There were several things that are to me not explainable:

- Sanabria played really great! I don't know how he could play so nice (compared to his skills), but anyway he did so and I liked it ;)
- the defense was bloody good, even excellent. The opponent didn't have a single real chance, really great!!!
- It's incredible, how many chances Keenan missed!!! @AnimalA: his striking skills is probably higher than the ones of your strikers at the moment. It's really unbelievable, as even his form is divine...

Imho a very nice game, if we had won 0:3 everything would have been perfect, but a 0:1 is really not good enough, but imho the tactic was very good and it was just badluck :(
