I'm fairly certain there is a young keeper who is at least formidable around somewhere

There's that chap I sold for nearly a mill last week. Alan Blanche. He's 20

Thanks, yes, he's better! ;-)

But he doesn't have enough pace unfortunately ...

And the Dream Team web page is offline for some time now, that was always a good page to spot some young players ...

This site

is also interesting, but only covers players in Ireland.

i just looked at the most valuable player...

1. 3 140 000 Sylwester Żuk Everestonians First Division.01
2. 1 791 250 Toon De Moerlooze GB Rovers Premier Division
3. 933 250 Nikodem Ratkowski Bad Tactics Premier Division
4. 893 000 Derek Docherty GB Rovers Premier Division

someone in first division has him and he's worth over 3kk!!

I've looked at him before and I reckon he's pretty close to the Polish Nt :) Everest has a nice nest egg there...
2008-04-04 23:31:00
whats amazing me is that he can afford him in the first division :P
im gonna be in first next season and my MVP is 200k and after that theyre all below that even :P

also as discussed in msgs NT coach, john moylan, 20 average rating per match is 35

Zuk is a keeper and he was bought when he was 16 and rubbish for a very cheap price. He's nowhere near good enough to be the Polish keeper though and Everest can only afford him because the rest of her squad is rubbish.

I know the Austrian team pretty well, I'm active in their forum for years now and I also know some of the players they'll use today.
Well, they have a pretty good U21 team, and they want to achieve great things in the WC.
Beside the problem that our players don't have the good skills yet their form is mostly low aswell.

A key will be the throw-in situations against us. There will be plenty of them, I hope Austria is playing them as I expect them to play ...

The good thing for the future is that we're not really playing with an U21 team, it's more an U20 team! Only three players are 21, all others are younger! ;-)
I think that's a good sign, there are good youth players coming, even though they're maybe not ready yet, they'll be great in a few seasons! ;-)

Nevertheless, I still hope to achieve a big surprise! ;-)

:((

The game wasn't bad, the tactic worked good imho.

But we miss a good keeper (incredible; one out of two shots on goal was a goal), mids who can play a nice pass on the striker und defenders who got a bit technique ;)))

But anyway, shit happens and Austria was simply too strong today imho.

1:7, a bit tough, though it didn't look to bad for the first 50 minutes!
It was 1:3 then, but then I guess the stamina problem occurs.

Well, 3 or 4 goals were because of our weak keeper, and it's difficult to set up a tactic if you know that the opponents player can walk through our defense ... :-(

I tried to cut off the pass lines, which mostly worked, but well, finally they were far too good ... an Austria isn't even a top nation ...

Well, the positive is the offense, 6 shots isn't bad, with a little bit of luck we could have scored more ...

Anyway, I'm not keen on receiving such huge losses with not even having a chance with a good tactic, so I decided that even if we finish as second in our group, which would allow us to play the U21 WC, I wouldn't participate!
There would be waiting much better opponents than Austria, and like we saw today, there's no chance in beating them yet!

In the next two weeks we're playing against Hong Kong and Republica Dominicana, that should be ok, they're probably even a bit weaker than we are! ;-)

Your formation was really good today - until our stamina ran out we were holding them to very few chances.
Looking at the teams their U21 team is as good as our full NT team :) No shame in the loss today - like you said it's the smaller nations like us that we have a chance against.

Good try. Strong opponent. Thought Smith started well, but he ended up surrendering a few softies.

There were a lot of aerial balls sent Curley's way that were just out of reach. Could have easily resulted in a few more shots.
2008-04-05 18:57:27
how do you see the match? i cant find the U21 team anywhere...
2008-04-05 19:46:47
the u-21 team doesn't exist. It's just the "normal" match of Ireland and both managers agreed to play with u21 players.

So you find it on Ireland -> national team -> last match (or similar)
2008-04-05 23:07:20
ah right :)
cheers for that info... maybe there should be an U21, or U23 cup incorporated into the system so because if people go to this much effort then then it really is worthwhile and its also a good place to see future NT stars etc...
