Terry Matthews, 80 games for the national team, 93 goals. I dont think he has anything close to good defending, so no, defending for strikers (at international level) is useless.

He has excellent defending but it's never seen in a NT game. For Ireland it would be better if all that had gone into striker instead.

I am not writing that if striker it doesn't have defender isn't scoring a goal...

The same I didn't write that winger he must have defender only he favours players with defender...

i was kidding, never mind.

I must be confusing him with someone else. I could have sworn Matthews had no defending.
At club level defending for strikers can be lethal, against top defenders though it's a complete waste.
