Subject: Season 11 Youths
I dont go by this idea of buying as many young players as you can. Not only do they cost a lot but you can only train 10 to the full potential and you're then wasting them the moment you train anything else.
I liked that 'Nin or one of the top guys' :) You'll do well to steal second place next season tho.
The draw against GB Rovers has given me confidence i can do it. We didnt start this season well due to my laziness when it came to Ajrisze and Schalke but the 2nd half of the season has been much better.
I'm certainly not dismissing the possibility :) The fact that me and Shane stick to Irish trainees only means we can be caught in the long term. We do still have a big advantage on attendances though.
from excellent:
Chris Shelly, age: 19
club: Everestonians, country: Ireland
value: 167 000 €, wage: 2 100 €
very good form, tragic tactical discipline
adequate stamina very good keeper
weak pace tragic defender
tragic technique hopeless playmaker
tragic passing tragic striker

Surely that's not right though considering we were talking about pace training? I train pace and train 22 players per week and surely they are all training at the same rate? Hope I haven't missed something...

Nope, you're bang on. Nin meant if you were doing some other type and just training 10 players and had 20 very young players. The other benefit you get is a lot more general training as all your players are so young.
If it were that case that you were just training 10 players I still wouldn't keep any players over 24 though as you start to lose value on them after that.

I'm fairly sure your selected position gets more and the rest get slightly less. Financially i cant see how it's a good idea to bring in trainees in every position, especially not if they're only getting pace or stamina.
I do quite a lot of pace training, it's definitely the same for every position. I think the setup Steve is using is financially the best one you can use especially if you have good coaches for general training.
Fair enough but he's still stuck training pace and stamina.
It means you can't give a guy full training alright but he seems to just keep them for a season or so and sell them on to teams to finish off. Because it's not the easiest type of training to change to managers pay more for high pace guys they can then train in other skills. If you look at some of the teams that make huge improvements in a short period of time they always follow this model. It's kind of like a more complicated form of daytrading, i think that Darren Patterson guy does it for example.

I don't see it as being 'stuck' at all though. More na dmore of my players in key positions (wingers, defenders and forwards) are getting up to incredible pace so I'm ifnding more and more that I'm able to skin people.
When I started pace training I was buying young players at poor pace or so and selling on when they got to good. Now I have been able to build to a stage where I am buying players at adequate or good and will not be selling till they hit excellent+ and meanwhile the main body of ym squad is becoming lightning quick.
And also as shane said I get shedloads of random pops too

Yeah but you seem to be in favour of my training regime so I'll let you off just this once :o)
