Nin [del] to All
I never know what to say in these things, mainly because everything has been said before.

* Goes off to read other peoples speeches *

I'm running for the national job because i enjoy it and i'm confident in my ability to be sucessful. There's also an issue of unfinished business as we got robbed during qualifying last time and i really want to set it right.

Experience
Well i've been in this game for over 2 years now, i was Ireland manager for 3 season and we were doing pretty well in 28th place by the time i left. I created the Ireland database, our site the newbie guide and i will eventually get round to finishing a page to bring more people into our community.
In the league i've just come off my best season, finishing 3rd and i was runner-up in the cup.

Tactics
I rarely play 3 in defence and never play 3 up front. I'm reasonably well covered in regards everything else and i can switch between formations easily. I have a preference for 4-5-1 but in the last season used 4-4-2 and 5-4-1 quite sucessfully.

Targets and Plans
The target this season has to be climbing the rankings. It's something i've done sucessfully in the past although the quality of opposition has progressed in that time. 28th position would be the target but it's a big ask in just 16 games.
As far as plans, qualify for the world cup. Its that simple. Whoever takes the national job should do so with a 3-season plan in mind. I dont think there's any point in taking this job for just a season as it would leave the new manager in at the deep end qualifying next season.

Any questions?

yep, i have one!:) sorry for it, but i'm just interested what will be your answer. you failed once - are you sure, that this time you will make it better? maybe ireland should test someone else, as jurkasz?

agreed with your last point. manager shud be active and there for a while providing he's good

Failed last time but the signs were there in the last season that we were heading in the right direction. I've taken the formations i was using at the time and improved them, as well as adding a bit more variation. I dont really want to compare to the other candidates but i've done this particular job before, i know the players inside out and the takeover is seamless because i set the system up.

ok, thanks:) everybody knows that you're good candidate, gl:)

which is why id love to see you involved definately and shane too... think a third person mite be handy to have involved too. thing is i dont know how involved other ppl will be if you become head coach. im sure you mitent need assistants but id like to see them all the same caus they mite point out things u hafnt coinsidered etc etc..
be cool if you could get some of the other candidates as assistants or something.. you hafnt mentioned them here is all. although u seem to have just recently decided ur going for NT caus ppl want u there :)

Thanks

I think 2 is the limit really, once you bring in a 3rd person it gets complicated. I dont really need assistants because it's quicker for me to do things myself but i do like talking to people about the tactical side of things and i used to end up discussing things using the private messenger. I dont really need to assign people to do that though, i'm quite happy discussing things with anyone who's interested.
What would i would really like to do (and i've mentioned this before) is to take on an Irish understudy as someone to take over after i've finished. Shane has actually started this with Welchy being in charge for the Wales game on Saturday. We dont have enough Irish managers with the confidence to take the job. Now if we had a proper U-21 system it'd be a great training ground for prospective managers but alas we dont. Currently I'd have to balance what Shane has started with making sure we get the job done and winning games. Still we've 16 games and the target out 28th is out of reach to be honest so i might as well let someone else try out.

aww Jurkasz stepped down :(

he cud have used his *ban other team* option as moderator :P

rite NIN u have my vote so far from potentials
2008-09-17 01:41:19
Moderators don't have such option I'm afraid. Or I'm just missed it as it's hidden?
2008-09-17 01:43:09
I might as well ask this now. Is there anyone Irish who'd be interested in taking the Ireland job in future and being my assistant until then? Assuming i win this election i'll give you 4 games in charge of the national team this season that would be in ... Week 5, Week 9, Week 13 and Week 1. I'll pick the games in advance and you'll have 3-4 weeks to prepare the formation for them.

Incase anyone else had thought of it, i was planning on running the SIC again in about 6 months. It would clash with world cup qualifying so it'll be delayed indefinitely until i'm finished with the national team.

im sure someone can run it from somewhere else.
btw how do u know whos winning election? u got my vote there now
2008-09-17 15:54:57
I doubt anyone else would want to run it, it's a lot of work.
There's no way of knowing who's winning the election but you can tell who's been voted for as they're seperate from the full list.
2008-09-17 15:55:40
so just u an pawiel then so far
2008-09-17 15:57:11
Yep, i know he's definitely got at least 3 votes unless someone changed their mind.
