Subject: U21 National Team
What i see is 7:3 shots in a game againt New Zealand
You should have seen the match, there was no clear scoring opportunity. From my point of view, why have not played with five defenders and a middef with a much weaker team than Ireland, must play more offensive, and considering that the strikers are weak, had to put in value, playing with wing, or with more midfielders.
but it seems to be a solid tactic to me
5-3-2 is a solid tactic, but it is not advantageous when playing against a weaker team, especially when we have very good defenders.
in all games we played at a higher level, i won the scoring against teams from the same level, and we dominated the game completely. All thanks to a good tactic.
i do not write that to let you down
I'll never fall down, because I am right in what I said. I tried to give advice, ideas, but mystery Smurf neither wanted to consider. on the contrary! That i said to read all my posts, not just the last page.

I have nothing against you personally, i only criticized the bad game against New Zealand did to you, and you as a coach you have to assume all the criticism and reproaches when wrong. In my opinion, i think they could win both matches.
I hope to win, and even if you do not win, even to see a good game, clear scoring opportunities, and a good tactic. good luck

I think go too far, I have not reproached, only things wrong in those games, and managers in Ireland must see reality, not just what he says.
I said it many times, could win both matches, and every time i came up with ideas, and show what's wrong, Smurf attack and told me he did it all (read post after the match with Austria).
I do not think i offended anyone in my posts, only mistakes made by the coach, which has not assumed.
I want what is best for Ireland U21, and I want good results, because they know they can get with these players and a well organized staff.
I'm sorry if I offended somebody, but those who do not agree my posts are not obligated to read. Curiously, as some Irish managers gave me right in some respects tactical, but the coach commented on my posts not only to others who have written the same thing as me.

have you even read my post ? if yes, you speak as if u didnt get the idea...
"managers in Ireland must see reality" ;-)) that's exactly the way that people will never accept
no one is talking about offending people, you just dont know how to sell your ideas, no matter how good they are. in germany we have a saying that goes like "the sound is making the music".... no quite translatable, but i hope you get the idea.

I understood from the beginning what you mean, but it seems that many have read a few posts of mine, not all (where I exhibited ideas), and many posts have been a response to what Mr Smurf commented, only that. I always do my homework well before concluding.
But it seems that you are a supporter of Mr Smurf, and so do these posts, or are not very well documented ... but the reality is that I do not agree with what Mr. Smurf said: great performance that is a defeat , if you accept that your problem is, I do not accept it.
And another thing, I do not sell ideas, just give some tips, ideas, where managers are not obligated to consider, and critically bad game, made by Mr. Smurf in both matches.
I will present my ideas to you during the election, a well-formed project with many details. I'm sure if you listen to my advice Mr Smurf with New Zealand win easily.
By the way, I like that there are other people who engage in this forum, respect to all.

giving tips is selling ideas, unlesss you dont want the others to follow your advice... which would make u a comedian... and btw selling is figurative and doesnt imply making money.
i just want to help you to get your good ideas accepted by others. just speaking out of years of experience as a teacher and coach.
so keep on with your input !!

i understand and i will take your advice (unlike others)... sometimes i overreact :)

Next U21 will be against Canada this friday. A couple of strong players for their age in Canada and a rating similar to ours, but we have to go for the win here.
We can rely again on our very strong defense and midfield. Bannon, Scully, MacDonald and Holt are really very good players and they will soon play an important role in the Irish first team.
Beaumont is also back after injury troubles. All players are progressing well at the moment and the players who are in the Irish teams can be happy with their progress : Coutts Smith, Pocopatepl, Sathiamoorthy, Robinson, Reilly, .... It's not bad they are in Irish hands!
If you want to participate to discuss about the tactics, join the Ireland assoociation.

know the most players, MacDonald was my player about 2 seasons, but should focus more on those 19-20 years. And I think you should talk with our opponents to play with the U20, to grow faster as qualifiers begin next season. ;) Good luck
In my opinion it's not always good to play with 20 y olds. Ok, they receive a bit extra training, but if they play at sunday too they must play appr. 10 international games for the equivalent of 1 training. It won't make them that much better on the field. You also have the risk for an injury in more important years to train. You also don't have something like experience on international level in sokker. If they are trained well they will be equally good next season if they play now some international matches instead of playing none.
As said earlier too I don't want to risk a lot of injuries too on the 18-19y old players...

That's my advice, the choice is yours. The regulation says that a match played at the NT, the player receives 50% of training, the player receives 100% 2 matches (ie a complete workout) which means that in six matches can increase an additional skill and they can take a few pop's.
I've had players from NT and I still, player injury is a risk that I assume since I sent the NT. You should not play with those 18 years but those 20 years and maybe some 19 years.

yeah but whats the point playing with U20s. next season they will be 21 and we will be playing U20 then again (if we keep your idea) so they only gain the same as if they play next season as U21s. then we have a stronger team anyway if we keep U21
also there are usually like 4-5 players each season age 19 or 20 who play in the U21 team. we dont have a lot of older players so we have to mix and match anyway.

GL against canada. holt mitent make the NT team.
he has a really poor talent for his skills (like 4.5-5 talent) but he had a really high YS level when he left which is why he ended up so nice.
also im training tech next season, or maybe even in a few weeks, so i think he wont get needed training.
mite even sell him now...

The idea is that now they are friendly matches, and can play with those 20 years, , to help future generation of 21 years. next season we will play with those 21 years, with all the best to get qualified.
