Subject: U21 National Team

well what i notice in your current tactic is that the main danger comes from those long splitting passes but some end up as kick and rush depending on the position from attacker against defender. what i'm hoping for is that this one offensive mid gives some short diagonal passes from time to time to the attackers to achieve the same as those long splitting passes and with some luck a defender might concentrate on this midfielder just before he passes which would give the attacker the room he needs.

it sounds good to me in theory but if it really comes out like that is unsure indeed. in any case one can only try things out and learn from it.

Yes, but you need two-three nice passes in a row....difficult on u21 level.
2011-09-17 23:24:02
well when you think 2-3 nice passes in a row is too difficult one alternative is to put all the lines closer together so that even a bad pass or controll has a chance to end up with a team player (or at least close enough to recover the ball). i guess youngboys means something similar when he talks about triangles.
that's a whole other approach than what you currently use for U21 tactic and probably also for your main team but maybe not that different from what happens in your youth matches for example.

Yes, so i said, must be lines closer and triangles created between players (defenders to midfielders, strikers with midfielders) and have better communication between them and thus passes much better.

I am glad that i support Menasure theory on the tactics.

And i think it would be like to play with those 20 years, to see where we are level, in order to create a solid tactics depending on players available, then you can change from game to game, depending the opponent.

Tomorrow against USA. They have very good strikers. It won't be enough to stop the Irish team though ;)

easier to approach a match for Ireland, hoping for a clear victory. Ireland has a very solid defense, good place to land and good tactic, sure we will not have problems. :P

Good luck

well that match did not deserve a winner imo. too bad it ended in a loss for ireland.

have been a few occasions, but not enough to score. In my opinion, as i said many times, be a tactic much more compact. distance between the lines much smaller, creation of triangles between players and one winger, to highlight the strikers, for that they can not differentiate because they are weak.

we should think that the next season we will not have many of the players now. Until now, I have not seen this team a game that hopefully we will have chance of qualification to World Cup.

regards

Smurf where are you? you left us staring at the sun? We expect some comments on the match against USA, the game provided. What changes will bring the tactics, and we hope for something from you, the only coach you, and you have to assume and victories and defeats.

lol. you have more interest in the team lately it seems :P
unlucky result. pity our strikers arent too strong yet :/

Haha... Within a couple of days you are going to tell me you do all the comments for the goods of the Irish team :)...

What can I say? Ireland chose me and my style of play. For me the tactics are good. We are most of the time in most of the matches dominant with several through-passes and a couple of 1 on 1's but we fail to achieve a nice scoring ratio. We play at the moment with 4 mids without a real winger and that's a good and the best option for me. I can cry about the strikers who are only 20y old and are not good enough to finish 1 or 2 from the 5/10 chances, I can emphasis the good organisation and say that we don't give away a lot of chances...
For me I achieved the best gameplay with this team at the moment with this players. It's a pitty it isn't reflected in the stats at the moment, but the differences between the teams are very small and the luck factor or a top striker is very decisive.

bad strategy making these friendlies with stronger teams...ireland needed games with 50 to 30 ranked teams to have a chance entering in the 2`nd pot

agree, actually the most important to keep the team in the first 32. but as i know nin was, who arranged the friendlies for this season.

it seems that we will be in the third pot.
