I was getting worried until I saw the strikers :)
Puhh ... same for me! ;-)
I basically like your ideas, except that I wouldn't switch to pace- but to technique training!
The reason is that it'll be almost impossible to change all the older players with younger ones, I guess this process needs time, more than just a few days/weeks if you don't wanna lose too much "skills".
Therefore I see technique as the better idea, selling some older guys and buying 4 young players for the additional 4 technique trainee places. While training technique there's some time to replace the older players who're left. If they're replaced and the team is (much) younger, then it's worth switching to pace.
That's what I'd suggest ...

Yup- much better and much more achievable :)
Cheers for the quick advice everyone, I'll try and change things around over the week-end. I really let my team go to the dogs for a while there.
I'll try and do a bit of technique training, I already have a coach sorted for that.
Taking a look at the newbie guides again probably isn't a bad idea. Will do that tomorrow.

At the moment we're in the off-season, I'd suggest switching to stamina-training, since most of your players need it and since you only could train 5 players (with technique training) or 3 players (with striker training). Your main coach should be good enough for stamina training btw.
But as soon as the seasons starts you should switch to either technique or striker (maybe for a few weeks until you have the trainees).

stamina is important, but id suggest getting a team you can stick with together before you train stamina (because otherwise you might buy someone who's bad in stamina after everyone else is high so yoiu wont be able to train it)
man, id clean you in a match TBH. and im one of the worse teams of our league..
none of your players have tech, pace is lacking (all of my starting 10 outfielders have at least formiddable pace)
check the newbie guide for requirements in positions
personally in first division,
DEFENDERS
very good pace, very good defender (excellent even), defenders with higher defender in centre generally.
good/solid tech (ability to control the ball)
adequate/average Playmaking + passing
E.g my centrehalfs (all getting a season of defender next season so 3 pops expected)
excellent stamina hopeless keeper
formidable pace excellent defender
very good technique average playmaker
average passing unsatisfactory striker
solid stamina tragic keeper
formidable pace excellent defender
good technique poor playmaker
good passing weak striker
Wing backs
adequate stamina tragic keeper
formidable pace excellent defender
excellent technique unsatisfactory playmaker
unsatisfactory passing unsatisfactory striker
MID's
Pace.. is a variable. id say solid though..
defensive - good/solid defender, solid tech, solid passing, solid PM - cost 150-200k probably
normal mid - very good/excellent PM and passing, pace and tech also as high as possible. i dont have high tech in my mids, but i should, i just dont consider it that important
wingers - left hand side. pace, tech and passing. to a lesser extent some PM.
strikers - you have covered. pace, tech and striker. tech is big time important for strikers mate
as for age
what the teams in our division do is have older players in positions they dont train. you train striker, so you should have strikers Under 23. always for best results from training. buy young and then sell in 3-4 seasons.
all other players. id say buy at around 25, resell around 28-29 maybe. you get a lot of the money back. dont sell if you dont want.
if you're training pace anytime have the entire squad as young as possible. i have about 15 players under 22 at the moment because i trained pace for a season.
its also a good idea to change the entire squad for friendlies. then you get twice as many general training pops

Keepers:
Goce Petrov, age: 30 - He's a good keeper but he's old. He still has pace though so it's not a priority to replace hime.
Paweł Szymczorek, age: 33 - Adequate isnt a high enough level for a keeper and he is too old
Defenders:
Giuseppe Paglione, age: 27 - He'd be ok if it wasnt for the useless technique. Adequate technique is a must
Kevin Mok, age: 23 - Same as above, better techn is needed
Christian Malone, age: 32 - Rubbish and old, there's no point in keeping him
Sylwester Franus, age: 32 - Same as above
Wacław Burzyński, age: 35 - And again
Gerald Bevaart, age: 29 - Not as bad as the above but hardly good
Konstanty Berliński, age: 29 - If he had tech he'd be great. Personally i'd sell right now and try to get some money.
Midfielders:
Artur Carioca, age: 26 - If he had pace he could be a good striker or mid
Andre Pesur, age: 21 - Not bad, winger, young. Either sell him or train him.
Bas Yener, age: 29 - Pretty good mid, old though so i'd sell
Dionizy Trykiel, age: 30 - Not much good without pace
Strikers:
Shane Connell, age: 19 - I cant remember if he's in the database yet but he will be soon.
Eugênio Dutra Zanata, age: 22 - He's better than my strikers. You need to sort out his stamina
Juanín García Entrialgo, age: 21 - Bit more pace and tech and he'll be very good.
José Julio Méixome, age: 19 - Not bad but doesnt match up to the others.
Gareth Ram, age: 18 - Better than JJM
Totonho Souza Oliveira, age: 19 - Pace and technique and the guy kicks arse

id even say get better secondaries for the head coach caus of random pops..
sack/sell all players above nin mentioned are rubbish. theyre not worth anything to you and you can get replacements. unused players are just a weekly drain on your income..

Better secondaries cost money. Those coaches are unearthly in what he needs.
true, but i still think general training pops are vitally important to a team.
18k for a head coach isnt a bad wage though.. i just think its better to focus on general training as well as the specific training. costs twice as much, but you cant argue with results

I've put in a bid for the coach, Bodde,
It seems I should be selling my whole defence and midfield, I'll list them tonight and I guess I'll have enough money to buy in a few decent players on Saturday.
I didn't realise technique was important for defenders :S

Tech and pace are important for every outfield player.
I'd advise you to take ity slow in listing your players- you don't want to end up without enough players to put out a team.
^^ listen to shaneteam. bad time to be listing. goot time to be buying though. start of the season when newbies get season bonus is a good time to sell. i bought a player for 1k this time last season and sold 2 weeks later for 125k
ratings are a good guideline also. find players who have 30 ratings minimum.
keeper is one of the most important players also. if you have suck as celtic knights there i think it is who have an unearthly keeper, you basically dont concede..then a 1-0 win is possible or anything like that.. mimimum very good keeper and good pace. higher skills are very costly

looking at your theory about coaches e.g unearthly in those 3 skills for strikers, i dont really see the logic unless you switch between which one your training a lot. training strikers you can train a maximum of 6, so you can get general training pops or whatever for all other skills.. the other players will only pop in striker skills mainly also as a result (striker for defenders, goalkeepers etc... pointless)
makes sense to have unearthly in what you're training and as high as possible in all other skills... only reason to have 3x unearthly, as i said would be if you were to be switching what you are training regularly...

still think you shud have waited until sponsor bonuses on monday before selling mate
