Subject: General Sokker discussions

its the usual next step.
warning (once or twice)
forumban (2, 5, 10days)
forumban + fine (10, ... days + 50k euros, 100k, 200k, ...)
forumban + fine + final warning
game ban

sometimes steps are skipped. Eg, if you had a warning for racism and do the same thing again, you'll probably skip the second warning and 2 days. But that depends on the admin. For heavier fines (so the 2 latest options) or for sure for the last option, several admins (if possible, all) give their opinion.

If that's the system then it needs to be overhauled. In this case a permanent forum ban could have avoided this situation.
2011-03-31 02:19:15
True, but somehow devs or first admins never spent thoughts on things like everlasting forumbans.
2011-03-31 02:20:24
Maybe someone should suggest it then. Now if only 1 of us had an Admin badge...
2011-03-31 02:21:49
There are users out there with 10+ bans and they're still playing?
2011-03-31 02:23:01
I think the main reason why they didnt use it, is because forumbans dont stop you from annoying people by sk mail.
Anyhow, I'll put it forward tomorrow (its 2.20 am now), but as usual, I dont expect much from it. Some things are just hard to change on admin level ... Even stupid things as writing notes in English instead of Polish took quite some moaning :)
2011-03-31 02:23:39
Sure, in Belgie we even have a guy who had 50 days forum ban and still plays ;)
2011-03-31 02:26:10
Kinda says a lot about that system ? Don't get the wrong idea Im not tryin to insult you or anythin, your actually the first admin who has bothered to write back to me about this topic
2011-03-31 02:30:01
Well, there are more things that could/should be changed.
A great step would be that stupid 'staff decissions arent up for public discussion'. It's a good rule for most stuff, but seriously, take cases like capitan Zenada, or Hellsangels banning a season or 4 ago ... You cant expect people not wanting to know more or getting explanations on such stuff ...
2011-03-31 02:32:48
Thats one of the reasons why people don't like staff - everything is done behind our backs, I've mentioned this couple of times but noone cared...reminds me of greg's famous quote but il be gone for 2 weeks if il say it
2011-03-31 02:33:30
You know there are times I seriously consider applying to get inside this closed system but

1. There's no way they'd give me admin powers
2. There's no way I'd keep quiet on things I'm not happy with
3. My admin badge would be revoked within days

As I said the other day when someone asked me about applying, I prefer my current self-appointed role as User Representative/Anti-Staff.
2011-03-31 02:38:29
I think the latter would be a problem yes ;) Thats why I'm surprised rtg got in ... or how vilpu lasted so long. But yes, the system and internal rules dont make staff popular towards the community. Especially not for admins. Though it really depends on the local staff. To get back to Hellsangels' case (and a couple of others where 'well known' belgians were involved), we decided to inform the community anyway. Not full disclosure, but enough to make clear why the decission was made.

if it was comments then a forum ban suffices. if he breaks game rules as you said then it should be a game ban..
problem is he still has pm function etc also..
i mean a perma forum and pm ban would have resulted and then whats the point him playing the game anyway...
"we decided to inform the community anyway. Not full disclosure, but enough to make clear why the decission was made."
this should always be the case.. not for the sake of clarity even, but to show what rules shouldnt be broken.. examples made etc...

its what i like about rtg being in it also. information does get passed along, vaguely though it may be... but its still nice to know stuff is being done, planned etc...

You can play the game without those features.
2011-04-01 00:13:46
Jeez, we need a heavy dose of 'chill the f**k out' to the forums, STAT!

Also, some people need to google 'trolling'
2011-04-01 01:04:52
First of all we need to be given some place where we can actually discuss these things
