Match overview

2009-09-05 09:00 - Group I - week 2: India 1 : 4 Ireland
We won the first match of the wc-qualification quite clear. Our defence was very good, the tactic worked properly and Cramer played great as winger. Our strikers did quite well too and so finally we won and the two red cards for India didn’t really have a big influence on the game, as we dominated also before.

Something different:

Ben Abbott, age: 25
club: Sultans of Ping F.C., country: Ireland
value: 1 266 250 €, wage: 13 200 €
superdivine form, brilliant tactical discipline

formidable stamina hopeless keeper
incredible pace formidable defender
outstanding technique unearthly playmaker
excellent passing adequate striker

will be trained in pace and technique. TurnipFish will go on training him in pace and technique as his younger trainees need these skills. But he would sell him if someone of you would train him in passing.

So is there someone training passing with some money? With 1-2 seasons of passing training, he would become one of our best offensive midfielders.

Abbott is still looking for a passtrainer.

Tomorrow we will play against Mexico. (thread in Mexico)

Their topstriker Maximiliano Bravo is injured, but they have quite nice alternatives:
Conrado Mascorro or Jaime Cortez

Mexico is very strong and we will try a very special tactic. We can't lose anything so we will take some risk to achieve maybe a draw or even a victory.

More details to our tactic shortly before 13.00, if I'm online then.

I was getting optimistic when I saw Bravo was out as well- until I noticed the other options :)
2009-09-11 16:32:48
they said, that after a very bad last game against slovenia they have to prove why they are on 9th in the world and want to kick our green a*** and get all the points.
the manager wants to prove his worth against us and develop a good tactic.
2009-09-11 17:47:40
=ireland fail..?
2009-09-12 10:42:20
same to me :-))

if someone wants to know some details about the tactic or just wants to talk about nt-games or whatever, I'm in the chat:

0:4.

Imho the tactic worked quite well, we had 2-3 big chances.
Their strikers were tackled most often frontally so that our defenders were able to tackle them.
But there were too many out-kicks of our defenders: we have to deal with that and this causes around 10 chances for Mexico...

The two sidemids were better covered then I thought them to be and unfortunately they often played crosses instead of flat death passes through their defence.

All in all Mexico hasn't had that many really good chances.
Our throw-ins did not work as I planned, as they covered the center mid. Otherwise he could have played the ball to the other sidemid who had many space.

All in all the result is okey, maybe a bit high. The tactic was worth a try imho.

4-0 is good enough considering it was close to a 10 point ratings gap. Like you said the positioning of their diamond hampered our two mids so the ball never stuck when we cleared it. It is a difficulty early in the season working out how a team will line up so having the cover in defence was a priority. By the return game you might be able to find a weakness to try and get a result.

The games coming up against Jamacia and Guatemala will be more important than this one. Historically we've struggled to rack up big scores to improve our chances of a god third place finish. If we can do well here it will take off some pressure that we need to win against one of the top two. That being said I haven't checked if teams can qualify from third place this time round :)
2009-09-13 01:54:31
No 3rd place qualification this time around.

Tomorrow we will play against Austria

Their players are clearly better than ours, but we will try everything to win.
I know their coach Marcodona quite good and he really is good at making tactics, so it won't be an easy match.

We will both play with our best 11.

Their best player, Max Kloss got a red card, so he won't play against us.
But they still have some really brilliant players:
Bruno von Pechstein, Peppi Marl (you can see his skills as he is on transfer add), and their topstriker Bernd Tarn.

Our team is quite good in form, we only have some problems in the defence.
2009-09-19 12:37:15
20 minutes till kick-off.
Details about the tactic in the chat, as MArcodona is online and will for sure check this thread :-)
http://www.chatmaker.net/chatap/rooms/SokkerIreland/ -> not for Marcodona :-D

YESS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Colbert / Cramer played great and we finally got a point against Austria. The result is fair, both team could have won.

Yeeahhh, that's really great, I'm even more motivated now :-)

Difference in average mark of almost 7 points...
Our midfield and offence were good, but our defenders... the only chance we have is to double the strikers and that is what I always try.

You have to see the 1-0 in minute 30, it's really nice football!
Many passes all over the field and then a cross and a beautiful header. The second one is quite nice too, a death-shot of Curley directly in the corner of the goalpost
