Anyway, imho it was a very very good game of our team.

We had around 5-7 chances. Many times the crosses weren't good enough and/or the defender was lucky to get the ball and/or the striker missed the chance.

Slowakia scored 2 times after a corner, which is badluck. 1 time after a freekick...


so all in all, if Reidy was a bit stronger and with a bit luck, we might have got a point.


But watch the average mark... incredible.
Anyway, imho (as already said) a very good match of our team.

With the players at your disposal that was a great result. With that much of a difference in average marks even losing by 10 or more goals wouldn't have been a bad result :) As always we need better defenders with secondaries to be able to take teams like this on- there are a few coming through in the u21s who look like they could get to this level tho so it's not a hopeless situation :)

i agree, defenders desperately need tech to keep posession against those agressive strikers and midfielders.

but i think the defensive tactic was not perfect, first, the wings were not really covered and the two defending lines were standing too close. the short passes after getting the ball were too often fumbled or intercepted... no opening passes to the wings, because everybody was in the centre.

but of course against such rockets like the slovaks, the result was really ok.

Second game against Guatemala tomorrow.

they have some good players, but all in all we are stronger and should win.

Our defender were placed very good, they covered the wing and striker, Colbert was there to avoid through-passes and Holt, Hegarty and Cramer played a good offensive match.

Our strikers were quite good too.

what are the other groups 3rd places like? Does Ireland have change to progress from the 3rd place?

As far as I know this season no third placed team will get to the world cup :-/

AGainst Mexico we got to win :-)

Tomorrow in the evening we will play our second match against Jamaica.
We won the first game 16:0. So... my aim is to score even more goals :-)

It was a really good play and we were unlucky to lose this match.

We lost lot of headers and our striker wasn't really good...
The tactic worked well and once again we could see, how bad our defence really is.
That's why we got our 2 goals :-(


But he had enough chances to win this game, the crosses weren't that good today :-/
FAlvey as wing played quite good, Cramer good as always and Hegarty was the man of the match.
Brilliant how he did!


By the way: it's worth watching the match cause our goal was really GREAT!
