Subject: Eircom League Cup - Season 16
I reckon it would be quite interesting to build up a team from scratch. Is the plan to get 22 good young players in for pace training and to sift the best 10 out when you move on or are you going to start with 10 trainees and fill the rest of the team with experience?
The other thing I'll be interested in seeing is how much it affects you financially in the end- you'll lose a lot of supporters but like you've pointed out a season without wages has it's benefits :) A lot will depend I guess on how your supporter mood reacts to being in a first division even if you get the players and start winning games.

depends on his division really... our one is about 160k a week for tops.. other divisions are around 130-140k...
1.3 and 1.4 are the stronger ones...
second divisions are usually poor.. was 60k a week when i was there.. but im sure it would be higher now esp if you have higher ranking...
who gets promoted in his place is also another thing.. with nin dropping im sure the premier income will drop slightly also
and yeah as for rebuild.. should be interesting to see what happens there :)
you can but 22 pace trainees, but after that max trainable is 10...
also Nin, 60,000 seats is great and all but you wont need it in first division ;)

The way to beat me is to plan in the long term. GB and I have done so well because we concentrated on coaches and stadium improvements rather than buying players and trusted our youth schools to give us the trainees we needed. I'm guessing even now the two of us would probably have some of the lowest total transfers in the top divisions even though we've both played for ages.
If I wanted to beat me I'd do something along the lines of what Nin is doing (perhaps not as extreme though). Clear out any player you're training over 24 (as long as he's not a NT player ;) - any player over that age even if you're training him is losing you money. The best trainees are the 16 and 17 years olds I see on the TL all the time not the magical 19-20 year olds- i think there's even a few available today. For NT reasons I'm currently training two 25 year olds and a 26 year old so if you have 10 trainees under 24 you already have an advantage on me.
With the money you get from selling on your older trainees improve your coaching staff to a minimum of 2*magical and 3*brilliant. If you're not able to break even over the season with that much in coaches tone it down slightly:) Any money left over is not for players- invest it in the stadium.
Do all this and repeat as your trainees get to 24. You only need 6 non trainees to fill the rest of your team and you should only replace them when everything else is fully invested in. It's simple really- I can't believe somebody hasn't overtaken me yet :)

I've not decided the specifics yet or even what I'm training but I'd bring in 10 trainees and cheap rubbish to get through the 2nd division and then gradually strengthen as I move up.
To be honest the players aren't my first priority. I want my Unearthly youth coach, a perfect head coach (which I basically have already) and 3 magical assistants. Then I'll bring in the players while leaving aside the 6mil I want to finish the stadium. I've got 53mil set aside for rebuilding and the setup is something I want done so I never have to consider it again.

Ah I wanted to mention something. My sponsorship money has essentially frozen at 200k and has been since week 2. That might be the bottom limit of what sponsors will pay to a premier team.
interesting assumption there that there is a bottom limit...
in terms of your "training" shaneteam.. i have 2x magicals and 2x outstandings (not gonna bother with3rd assistant for a bit.. might pick up a cheap very good/excellent soon)
and at that im losing money (100k weekly) although almost breaking even over the season due to cup match income and league matches...
first division definately cant afford top coaching.. not until we expand our userbase a LOT.. and i cant see that happening to be honest

Yep, the only place I've actually been hammered is with the supporters but even that's only down by about 100. I expect things will get worse next season but I'm not bothered. I prefer this game when I'm not required to make an effort with it. Tactically this game has stalled and seeing as that was what I enjoyed most, last season was boring.
the new changes have made player skills way more important alright...
i also feel you need to utilise the space of the pitch more - provided you have the players.. iv seen a lot mroe back passes than normal

The next one will be interesting but I don't think it's a coincidence that it's stopped so close to 200k. My sponsor money actually went up after I lost to Evilbunny

I think there are a lot of things that have been missed like that since the update that people could use tactically. The pass backs are something I've noticed as well which is why I've been pressing a lot higher up the pitch. Also after the initial excitement after the height update nobody seems to be talking about how important tall players are. I've been playing Sanabria through the middle a lot as he's 191m an he wins a huge amount of kickouts and clearances.
I think there's huge scope atm to build a Sam Allardyce type team. With the right tactic it could wreak teams.

small wingers, tall strikers, or the other way around i guess.. narrow team all tall, and then small strikers who have pace... either way works i guess...
im not really bothered much at the moment though to be honest about this height thingy

Hmmm I'm wondering whether to go for him now or try to pick someone up closer to rebuild time.
getting really good youths in a few months time will pay off im sure... although guaranteed he will be uber expensive
