Our first national team friendly of the season ended a 3-3 draw with Austria today. I'd be interested to hear other peoples thoughts on it in terms of improvements that can be made.
Looking at it I probably had the team sitting a bit too deeply at times - I was slightly worried about our fragile defenders being a bit too exposed. I'll tweak it for the next game and see how we do.
Otherwise I'm pretty happy- the Austrian manager had a nice formation put together and considering they have about seven times more users than us we did pretty well to get the draw.
Any thoughts?

Sth wrong is with defensive line i think... too big distance between them when ball is in the middle area.
And this one strange def/mid.. what is he doing? imo he only brings some chaos to the line.
Too many players close to takieng out in the middle, it makes a hole in defense. And when opponent is takieng an out near penalty area try no to place players near line, better closer to penalty area and ending line (running defender which is tackling a flying ball brings more succes)

thats what i saw in 1st few minutes :)

ps. sorry for my english but i have just a little bit of time (i'm preparing for a party :P )

Yeah- The defence needs some work I think. I had Freyne moving out from defence so he could sweep in front of the defensive line, which he did pretty well, but a more compact back four might be the better bet in future.
I have no idea what the second point means :) Any chance you could try and explain again? (Don't worry- your English is a lot better than my Polish :) )

What's the plan for beating Chile?
2006-04-27 16:53:24
I won't lay out the strategy for my esteemed counterpart from Chile ;) but more of the same really.
The one thing I want to improve is the midfielders performance from last week- the initative was gifted to Austria a bit during the game I thought, so this time I want to impose our midfield a lot more. (I'd be the first to admit that compared to other international managers I have less experience when it comes to putting a formation together :P ) All in all I'll be hoping for a win....

Just to keep everone posted as well- from next week the NT will be participating in a "Mini World Cup" that's been set up for all those teams who didn't make the World Cup proper.
We've been drawn in a group with Turkey, Belarus and Venezuela with the top placed team making the next round- check out the topic in Sokker International for more details.

would you consider my opinion about tactic? :)

Don't worry- the floating Mid/Def idea is gone :) Any suggestions are always appreciated, we'll need every advantage we can get to win this friendly cup.
