He will get keeper training here at least until my next junior keeper promotion in 4 weeks. I will then either sell him on to a keeper trainer or continue to train him myself - all depends on how useful the next junior is.

I've a formidable 17 year old with a talent of 3.26 next week. Think he's a defender
with current GKs (McManus, Dealhunty and oldie Reidy) in mind, yours should be NT at the age of 22 :)
I don't know whether height is an advantage to keepers but my feeling is he's going to be a main keeper.
apparently it determines their reach.. whereas smaller keepers will accelerate faster i.e when they block and it goes loose get to it quicker.. not sure which is more important.. i guess if you are limiting opposition to longrange shots then tall keeper. playing high line then small keeper for 1vs1s etc
yet my 199cm giant sometimes loses against a header from a striker ...
i really dont think height did much to be honest..
smaller players are quicker though thats for sure..

I totally agree :)
One of the first games after height was introduced in the ME (I think I was U21 Scotland coach then) I made a list of all heading duels during the match and checked who won. Mostly it was the smaller one ... Especially in headers between defender vs striker, the small striker usually wins the header ... Only explanation would be that with his better acceleration, he has a better position than the tall guy ...
