Is this guy just dross?

Trevor McCaul, age: 17
club: Sultans of Ping F.C., country: Ireland,
value: 42 250 €, wage: 650 €,
incredible form, adequate tactical discipline,
height: 178 cm

poor stamina tragic keeper
poor pace unsatisfactory defender
poor technique good playmaker
adequate passing hopeless striker

He was only in the YA for 4 weeks but he popped 2 levels.

Gave him a few games in the reserves....3 tech pops in 4 weeks.

even if he is fantastically (i know the early pops are fast) talented is training him just a waste of time?

hes max talent possible so i guess mate. i mean he will improve rediculiously fast.
whats your head coach and assistants like?
the thing abuot the pops being like that, you are talking 8-10 weeks for all skills to pop a level in things you arent training if you have decent other coaches...
thats where he will increase in skills...
in terms of what he has he is nothing special yet though...
if you keep training him for another season he will turn out pretty nifty i wud think...problem is he is just shocking as is...
depends if you have other stuff to train really... someone should really train him though.
shaneteam used just keep the high talent guys and train them mainly... but as i said thats with decent other coaches.. its on guys like him where assistants and headcoaches really really do shine

5 x magical coaches in total

I don't think you can make any assumption on talent over only 4 weeks.

Mark Rooney can pretty much go right into the U-21's as soon as his stamina improves.

From Very Good

Fiachra Daish, age: 18
club: Argus Athletic, country: Ireland,
value: 44 500 €, wage: 800 €,
very good form, tragic tactical discipline,
height: 186 cm

weak stamina hopeless keeper
average pace hopeless defender
very good technique hopeless playmaker
tragic passing poor striker

I'm going to be training pace for the next two season. Is there any point in me training this guy when his positional skills are so low?? I have a Magical head coach but my assistants are only Incredible, Outstanding & Excellent.

no in my opinion. specifically because his striker level is crap.

what you want is a similar age with very good striker and tech i would guess..

he will need a season of striker training to get him to a reasonable level and at that stage he will already be 20...

secondaries are shocking... all the same considering you are cash strapped im looking at him in terms of the U21 team...
he could make an ok striker for you longterm sure... your assistants are grand. theyre almost the same level as mine :P
assistants probably are the most overrated thing in this game... but they do help in cases of really high talent players and in mid training

nin 3 pops in 4 weeks.. thats max talent at that age especially from just friendly games
Gave him a few games in the reserves....3 tech pops in 4 weeks.
if i had a player like that i would be rubbing my hands together
2011-06-17 01:32:08
It means nothing. He could have come in at a false level, he could be at a false level now. I've had plenty of players who did exactly the same and they ended up being crap. It's impossible to estimate talent after only 4 weeks.

2011-06-17 13:52:43
