langhe to All
Hi,

For those who dont know me, here's a small introduction.
My name is Stijn De Langhe, nicknamed MacLanghe (previously known without the Mac part). I'm a 23 yo student bio/genetic engineering. Hobbies are mainly reading fantasy books and playing some football with buddies. Remaining time is usually spent on the web.
I guess most people dont care about the real life stuff when it comes to electing a NT coach, thus I kept that part short and moved on to the 'why vote for me' paragraph.

I started playing sokker back in 2005 in 5th division. A bit more than 5 years later, so last week, I finally reached the Belgian highest league. I got helped by the fact that the qualification game was a bit of a laugh and the fact that in my previous league, most people preferred the cup over the league. So whether I'm good enough to become a stable top league team, is yet to be seen.
As for the NT part, I can say that - without being arrogant - I'm pretty experienced. After a couple of seasons as assistant coach, I started my real NT adventure with Indonesia, a team that I took care of for about 3 seasons if I remember correctly. After a dreadful season of the Belgian NT, I got elected as new Belgian NT coach. I qualified Belgium by taking the first position of the group. In the WC group stage, Belgium ended 2nd with 3 points after Eesti. In the knockout stages, Nederland was slain with 7-3 (and lots of red cards) after which England sent Belgium home. After those 2 seasons I took a break from NT duties. I had the honour of managing 2 other nations' (U21) teams too. Scotland U21 and Cymru. With the latter, I probably had the most surprising results, beating Brasil (report) once and drawing against Suomi (report) once during the WCQ. If the luck we forced against those 2 teams wasnt against Cymru during the 2 matches against BiH (first leg, second leg), a qualification would have been achieved. During the last season, I helped rtg qualify Danmark by helping him pick the players and giving him the tactic for the 2nd Greece game.

As you might have noticed, I'm a fan of playing counterfootball when the opponent has a stronger team. So far it worked pretty well on both NT and club level. Though I sometimes hop to a wingerattack if the other manager is overconfident and doesnt cover his wings. I'm not yet sure how I'd like Ireland to play if I'm elected as I dont have any idea about the amount and the kind of players this nation has as its disposal. I'm not going to promise I dont use 5 defs, as sometimes it simply is needed. Same goes for the strikers: I am a believer when it comes to cooperating strikers, so I try to use 2 (I'm also a believer that 3 is useless and that it's better to use an extra midfielder then), but again, sometimes you only have room for 1 striker.

Cheers,
ML

if youre not confident and sure you are capable of doing a good job, you shouldnt apply for a job :)

how will you find the time to do the irish NT when you are SUPPOSED to be helping me for at least 3 games anyway. Culminate that with your lab time increasing to nearing a full time job (YA LAZY STUDENT) how do you have the time?

p.s. your tactics are pants - i have never used them to beat Eesti or Greece the second time round :)

p.p.s to all of ireland - if this man can take Wales to nearly qualifying im sure he will do ok with your team

it stops after next week ;) Then there are only courses in the lab that I already followed :P
And why help you? I helped you qualify with danmark. Friendlies are your problem ;)

I know, those mysterious shades keep reading my mind and somehow they whisper to you ;)

Dont forget there was some luck involved back then (especially Brazil) though partially that luck was helped a bit with tactics. Oh, and this is a season of friendlies, so I doubt I can qualify this season, even if I get elected ;)

bugger forgot about this is a season of friendlies.

So...Mr Langhe if you get promoted are you up for a UK+Bacon championship just after round 3 of the WC lol

sounds ok to me. Guess the community wouldn't mind either.

First post updated to boring reading stuff, called a speech.

Update requests have just been sent out for every player in the red and despite the clear "Do not reply directly" message my mail is now flashing a manic red like the eyes of an insomniac with a twitch.
