Smurf [del] to All
Dear Irish people. I would like to candidate again for the spot of Irish U21 candidate. We are in a decisive period for sokker Ireland. We see for example that the number of valuable youthplayers is decreasing (just look at the available players for U21 instead of last season). Nevertheless it must be possible for Ireland to qualify for the WC. With Bulgaria and Denmark we have some good teams to play against, but imo we have a chance. It's always difficult to evaluate teams in this phase of the season though.

My purpose this season is :

- To finish top 2 in our group.
- To work a bit on Irish youth. I'm not sure how I can do it yet, by promoting youthschools, give more advice on the forums, by following new managers, ...
- To be more in contact with the Irish managers of the U21-generation. Maybe a more personal touch can motivate more.

I think the results can be better this season, especially because now we have on a regular basis an "easy" opponent. Last season we had some good results but we lost too much. I hope to play more against equal teams this season.

In any way I would like to thank the Irish community they gave me the chance to make mistakes last season and to welcome me with their national team in a nice way.

How will you deal with players much less than what you had in this season, considering results 1 win, 2 draws and 5 defeats ... (you had very good players: Scully, Bannon, Anderson, MacDonald, Holt, Popocatepetl), and most importantly you lost to Denmark, the team was in a lot goalkeeper, 1 midfielder and 1 striker who is now 22 years.

I will not play anymore before 0.00 h. It seems irish players are better after that hour ;)

I see that you avoid to answer, but I'm sure I will qualify Ireland to WC, and by my project will create a very good team in the future. All I can say is that you had a chance and you went to Ireland in 3rd pot.

Good luck and best to win :)

Indeed! I can only say that every manager tries to do the best with the team. I'm sure you would do and if I'm elected it's normal I try to do my best too.

but I'm sure I will qualify Ireland to WC

How can you be so sure? You said it yourself that we dont have many quality players this year, what if 3 or 4 will get injured? Even if you're a tactical genius you still won't achieve much

i m sure, meet potential team, and I have a very good staff, including U21 coach from Romania, who won bronze in the WC. As I said, it matters very much to have a capable staff, something that Smurf did not, and you saw the results had :P. No matter how good you are, you need some around you to help you.

Well first of all, is there really a need of havinf staff at Ireland u21? I mean the databse is pretty small, once again there is maybe 15-20 players that are actually good enough to play at this level. Tactics has been always discussed at our association but you should be able to them on your own .

You do realise there is a huge gap between Romanian players and Irish players

"i`m sure you will prepare the matches very good if you get elected...like this season"

i know there is a difference between the romanian and the irish players but it`s very important how you think the game and the romanian u21 manager has some experience and can give precious informations and advices...

of course the tactics will be discussed in the associations if elected but you can always listen to other`s oppinion , especially when "the others" mean some experienced users

I cleaned the Database a bit and made an analysis of the team of next season :

GK

Wayne Coney will be for sure the number one in the goal. He is trained like it has to be by decka and is on worldwide level a decent goalkeeper. He is only 19, so despite some messages in the past the U21 will be safe for 3 more seasons with him. Croom and Phelan are decent replacements, altough their level is a bit lower.

DEF

We have a good number of defenders for next season.

Dennis Brogan
Jeff Banker
Keith Dully
Kevin Lyons
Paddy Fahy
Mark Coutts-Smith

are defenders who can cope with most of the U21 ATT. Hopefully they are trained a bit more in Def and pace to perform well against the better teams. In general the sideskills are a bit less like you can expect with U21, but that's quite normal. Coutts-Smith is the most complete Def and can take a role as DEF MID too in the rest of the season.

James Killeen and Jeremy Phillips are close to the level of this defs and are only 20 years old, so they have a nice future in the team.

MID

This is a bit the problem area for the Irish team. We have offcourse Dave Sathiamoorthy, Derek Beaumont and Stephen Powell who are a decent base and seem quite talented! After these three guys we have some upcoming talents like Damian Reddy and Richard Dodrill, but they lack some stamina or just some better skills. Hopefully we are spared in this area from injuries and form-loss.

ATT

In the ATT area we have Shawn Hannigan, Colm Reilly and Graham Robinson. Nice attackers who played allready for the U21 last season. We hope they keep developping in the same way they did last season.

Talents

Beside this keyplayers we allready have a couple of youngsters who showed some good promise and talent. The most important seem :

Gerard Whenham, Buster Sutton, McEneany, Molloy, McMillan for the 19y olds.
William MacTause for the 18y olds.

Hopefully we will have a lot of decent pulls this season to complete this list!

molloys talent is poor i think, but for sure he will be U21

charles is my most exciting prospect, way more so than molloy.

its why im doing a season of tech, so coutts smith is being made into defensive mid, similarly reddy wont really be much better next season as he will just have incredible/brilliant tech with other skills around the same... passing will start next season (when he is 22)
2011-10-18 10:31:26
LOL. the second i say him. haha.
tech for the season and he will look awesome ;)
2011-10-18 10:34:05
Charles seems very nice indeed! He skipped the radar because of his high pace probably ;) Nice player!
2011-10-18 10:36:49
yeah i had a 3mill offer on him start of last season but want to train him myself.
pops are weird when i checked them
3/5/5/4 in pace lol
but 4 weeks to incredible pace is awesome :D
i think its the difference between league and friendly games or something :S
