A wins a win, and the attack was a bit better than i expected but we were a bit a bit messy in defence at times. I did think about experimenting with a very different tactic but with almost no friendlies this season decided not to and focus on tactics i will probably use in qualifying. On to Bosnia next week for our first group game in qualifying :)

definitely closer than the 10 point swing in the rating would suggest especially with a couple of injuries and to lose to a late penalty was a bit unlucky. Next up is Ghana who i would hope we can beat away from home and get some points on the board.
With strikers a bit lacking, i tried my best to take Johan McAleese on but the bidding got a little over what i could spend at the moment so hopefully the new owner can get him popping as after this season we lose Haniotis and Comeford leaving us very short!

Ok great, if your buying there isnt anything transfer listed for Ireland U21 currently but they get listed fairly regularly if you keep looking.

A red card for Reynolds after 8 minutes basically ended any faint chance of a result, topped with an injury to Hoey it was always going to be tricky. Actually thought we did quite well with 10 men and had a decent number of shots, with the weakend defence holding up to not decimate the goal difference. Best team in the group in Belgium next week but then hopefully Tunisia will offer a chance at some more points.

Belgium 2-0 Ireland
Probably the best team in the group (and a massive ratings difference!) but we had a few chances and were pretty solid for the most part. Tunisia next week is a more winnable game before the weeks break in qualifying and then return fixtures.

No not too bad, all probably depends on your expectations but im pretty happy with the tactics and the squad is what it is so the top 20 teams is always going to be a step too far in quality. For now :)
Despite the defeat, it was a good game. I watch which players you put in each position, and you really have to work hard to get everything right. Respect for what you do, thanks! :-)
Appreciate that, im still learning the ropes a little so will probably make a few mistakes. It is a bit of an annoyance that our best striker is so slow so in games like today against better teamz where we have to soak up and counter attack he isnt really a great option.
