Our Frielndly on sat,

Gonna try a few things positioning wise so if anyone wants to drop me an sk mail i'd be happy to consult.

Also I'm thinking of trying maybe one or two non regular players.

I'd be looking for two things.

No gaps anywhere on the field or you'll get pulled all over the place (against Hungary)

Sorting out the linkup between defence and attack, it was non-existant in the last game

I'll be looking for those things too.

Just try and keep things simple. A bank of 4 at the back that don't move out of position or too far forward and up front 2 strikers staying narrow and as close to the goal as they can be at all times. In the midfield you can be more creative but (wingers aside) both offensively and defensively players are more effective playing from behind the ball.

I'll admit we just played probably the worst international team in sokker but it's nice to see Cashin on form.

Freyne probably could have taken Hong Kong on by himself the way he dominated midfield.

The most importatnt thing is there are no additional injury worries for the game next week

dont try this tactic against a little stronger rival than hongkong :)

Really?

I'll be glad to hear your suggestions on how to beat hungary and croatia.

Your some kinda genious.

dont joke.. i really want to help you ;)
.. look at those big holes in a defensive line. i am not sure what were you going to do by placeing cetral defenderes in such a strange option. there was no deep and was no chance to catch opponent on offside. and dont put players so close to themselves, like those two wingers. imo its not effective

just a few suggestions, dont be mad ;)

ed: and where was defmid?

Big jump in the rankings after Hong Kong, from 50th to 44th. When this world cup campaign is over we should concentrate on climbing further, it'll help the seedings for the next world cup.

Kamiss is speaking sense here. Four defenders in a straight line with no gaps between them is not a tactical option to weigh up against others; it's a requirement.

Freyne played in the position an OM should be in- you need at least one DM behind that position. Fairclough is too deep here to do anything against a better team. Cashin could have been placed further forward but he was far more effective as when he received the ball he usually had a shooting chance. Attackers will not contribute to build up play- plated too deeply they just run into traffic and lose the ball.

I can see what you're going for with this formation Executor and it's a good idea tactically. The problem is that you're positioning the mids too offensively and the strikers too defensively. The ball just ends up getting to a big clump of them in no mans land and against any kind of competition will result in you losing the ball and exposing your defence.

I'll play a formation along the lines of what you're going for tonight against Drunken Wanderers (Hint;)) It should hopefully show how to tighten this up.

Yeah- That was a huge mistake i made last season, taking on the bigger teams meant we probably dropped a seeding level. So really I should be blamed for the position Executor is in ;)

The biggest problem has been our lack of quality in depth. Our two best strikers have been out of form all season and we've had no ready made replacements available. Cashins performance yesterday shows how any bit of quality (in form) up front makes a huge difference.

To get past this we all need to start training more Irish players and getting youth schools chugging more and more of them out.

We didn't really have any luck with the youths this week. I'm still waiting on McKeon but he's not been pulled yet.

i am always speaking sense ;)

Hopefully I'll have the striking positioning a bit better for the for the next game.

With regards to defence and midfield there will be nothing too wild just a decent link up . And no gaps.

2-2 with Drunken Wanderers, I really need to get a good keeper :) I'm not sure the formation was an improvement on what I normally use but it wasn't exactly rubbish either. Lizragga is usually a lot more dynamic in my games, he didn't seem to get much action in that wide role. With two OMs as well my strikers wouldn't be pulled out of position so much.

I can't see myself using something like that again- it might work a bit better against teams with 3 at the back though.

Why you don´t give a chance in games like this one to Gary?He has got great secondaries,I made a really good player from him!

Just look everybody for themselves.I think you don´t have to much players with his secondaries + solid striker,he deserves a chance.
