Subject: Youth Monitoring

Seeing as he's 18 and a Very Good striker i wouldn't bet on the price being low.
I like the 3 Good trainees you have near the end there. They could be very useful.

I'm looking forward to Tillbrant. He had a talent of 4 weeks when i had a formidable coach.

I think the best juniors are ones that come out at something like average 6 weeks. Because they're in the junior school for a short time you have a good chance of them being 16-17 and if you have time to assess this talent you can pick one out to train up who'll overtake 20 yo out standings pretty quickly. Matthews, for example, was only an adequate youth :) My problem is that I never seem to get any like that with talent....
2007-01-15 23:37:37
Here's what gets me - say he comes in at average 6, then at 3 weeks he pops to adequate.

How do you tell his talent then? I presume when they first appear, they can be at any sub-level? As far as I can wor it, you need to wait for them to level-up, and then for them to level-up again.

So by my reckoning, if an average 6 had a talent of 4 weeks, it would be very hard to actually deduce this. I suspect I might be missing something
2007-01-15 23:38:51
Nope thats exactly how it is.
Although you could train them after they've been pulled to find out.

It can be quite hard to pin their talent down alright. Especially as young players like that tend to train really quickly anyway.
If you start regular friendlies you have potentially 5 more training slots to try guys out, then as you get better and better trainees you can cut out the chaff. Their are some good programs like Sokkerviewer out there that you can track your training with -plus is also quite handy for it :)

I put a bid in on McAleese. I won't be around at the deadline though so I'll probably miss out.
2007-01-19 00:37:55
I like McGuiness but i notice he's not up for sale. Not that i'd be able to afford him anyway. He looks like one to keep an eye on anyway.
Out of the players we've had this season i like

Colm Colleary
Steven Fisher
Stephen Mcmillan
Murray Lally
Brendan Brumpton
Peter Lockerbie
Kevin Foxton
William McGuinness

There are a few others with potential
2007-01-19 08:29:16
I'm considering training him myself. I have the problem now that I have trainable players in both midfield and defence and to get the best out of them I would need to concentrate on one or the other.
