I think 2nd will be difficult because of the teams below us not offering much competition. We'll probably need to take 4 points off Denmark to get 2nd.

About time it reversed ;). Pretty happy with our draw because I fancy even if we only take 3 points against Austria we'll qualify due to easy goal difference against the bottom 3.

early call there. Considering only 2 of the 15 groups will have teams who finished 3rd qualify, it's rather cut-throat. Ireland will have to pick up points against Danmark and hope they can finish 2nd, or else pull out something special goal difference wise. Although Danmark are beatable, it's not an easy game.

I like that i'm not playing them right away because it gives me time to work out what they'll do. What i dont like is that both games are within 2 weeks of each other. Any injuries or poor form will likely be for both games.
I think Spain are takeable. They have good players but personally i think their manager is their biggest asset and he's stepping down. Whoever takes over has one game to work out what they're doing.

Same reason I'm happy not to take on Osterreich first up. Don't need the crucial games up 1st, makes it too much of a lottery.

Need a lot to get everything right but it's possible. Think most teams are beatable if you get everything going right.

well... 12 shot for sweden and 8 for Ireland... Swedden missed one penalty and played with 2 less players for almost 30 minutes... I wouldn´t ahve been too happy about the loss.

It was the 3 forwards that really did us in. Positionally it seemed like there was always 2 forwards on 1 defender when thier crosses came in. Shame we couldn't exploit their 2 red cards more. I expected Lally/ Sanbria to be firing in crosses after the 2nd red but I think a lack of pace was showing and they seemed to get closed down quite a lot.

Caffery had 2 great chances in the last 10 minutes and Curley had a few in the first half. Just not our day :/

Sweden has played their 3 forwards for several matches now and did good with them so maybe it was expected.

Thought I'd add my thoughts about the WC draw. As far as I can see, it's the best chance Ireland's ever had to qualify. Denmark is good, but is one of the softer teams in the top 20. Sharing points in some way with them should give Ireland a great chance at one of the two top 3rd place spots. And it's not completely out of the question that Ireland could sneak past them.

Will still be tough, but it's Ireland's most legitimate chance in ages. :) Good luck!
