Subject: Ireland Vs...

There's no real difference between MC and our site. The code was written by the same person and it's structured the same.

Ecuador 0-4 Ireland

Bad day for the strikers but I'll put it down to poor conditions.

I had planned on resting a few players for Ukraine tomorrow and sending out a younger team but they're all sodding injured.

I was hoping for a big jump in the rankings today, seeing as the teams above us all had losable games. Didn't work out though, we should overtake Canada but everyone else got a result, even Sweden somehow nicking a result off Italy.

Ukraine 0-2 Ireland

Not happy with the scoreline. If I'd spent more time studying them I could have easily avoided the offside trap and defensive line. Having said that, they setup to defend, we had the wrong strikers out and their keeper made Dealhunty look like an amputee.

I've messaged Manda_Chuva about switching over to his database. While we'll be using his I'm going to keep ours as a backup.

good idea... keep us informed mate!

The switchover is done. Unfortunately, the people using the Greasemonkey script will still be sending to our old database as that script hasn't been updated. Anyone using Firesokker sends to the new one.

I've been looking at the national squad and U-21's over the last week, basically to get an idea of where we're heading and the players that need to be brought in and dropped and the news is quite positive. Aside from the defence, which is just about holding it's level, we're essentially blessed with quite a few young talented players who will ensure we're heading in the right direction for at least another 5 seasons.
What has pleased me most is that I've been looking to promote our best U-21 players and found it quite difficult to find places for them, due to the quality and youth of our main team. It's a nice problem to have for once as up until this point it's always been a case of bringing in in vastly inferior youths to replace older players or just keeping the older players in the squad. Next season should see a noticeably younger squad but no less strong. Barring some kind of miracle we've now got to build towards the world cup qualification without relying on team ever presents like Matthews, Jim Caffrey, Hanrahan, Crossley and Donegan. Thankfully we now have the players to do just that.

always good to have a bit of depth ;)

from what iv seen of this season, we will have a decent defense coming through in a few seasons time... at this stage im starting to realise that defender skill is more important that actual pace or anything else, so im gonna have much more emphasis on that long term...
I really like pace training though because its a quick and easy way to make a fortune from players...

It'll come just in time. Corscadden and Kinsella are coming through the youth system but 1 defender a season isn't enough. Our defence is by far our biggest weakness, in terms of strength as well as age. It's basically cost us qualification this time around as despite scoring 6 goals against Denmark, we conceded 8. They've been watertight against everyone else but stick them up against a good attack and they get killed.
Spain and Denmark, 13 conceded in 3 games
Everyone else, 1 conceded in 8 games

yeah...i looked at player ratings against denmark.. spain is just funny caus ur up against superdivine tech strikers probably :P
its a pity we cant get info off the other first division people about youths because im sure theres some good ones there also... i mean madrista has 2 decent youths coming through (IMO incredible is the minimum that has a chance of making the squad in terms of mids or def's)
i have a brilliant in 16 weeks i hope (excellent atm but had a 5 week pop this time after a few 4 week)

next season is looking pretty bright :)
from the performances of the U21's it seems to me that we are producing almost the same amount of potential talent as a lot of other bigger countries...
welchy did pick a few easy games..ill give him that (well done mate!) but i still think its job well done so far and it shows what the future holds!
i have a lot of faith in my youths at the moment also! in fact i have 4 irish trainees :P
thats a first for me! will need ~4 new trainees early next season also as im planning 6 foreigner sales..so hopefully i can get a few irish players in :)

I don't like to push any manager on what they're doing so i leave those clubs alone. It's generally the case anyway that those who are active on the forum are better trainers and more interested in the national team.
There have been some great youths over the last two seasons and i'm finding it more and more often that the smaller clubs are contributing more. Most of you guys in 1:3 seem to be really pushing the youth system and coaches, to the point of almost bankrupting yourselves but it's starting to pay off. If Welchy promotes this season i can see Beavers and Emmigrants following shortly after. While thats a loss of some sponsorship you should make it up in better results. Personally i'm just looking forward to the day when we have the top trainers in the top league, getting money that allows them to step up another level.
