Match engine changes Autor: mr_gibbage

During the NT games today and the next friendly NT and club games (once all of the cups are finished), we will be testing some modifications to the match engine. This is mostly due to the repetition in the current engine - many goals were as a result of long passes from the wings or running passes. The changes will be as follows:
- it will be easier to score from long distance, although harder to score a "one on one" with the goalkeeper
- passes will become more varied (before passes were either almost exact, or no where near exact - with very few passes in between the two)
- defenders and other players from team currently defending will be able to "predict" the area where the ball will drop after long passes (so not only attaker or player which the pass is addressed to will know where it is going as it has been before)
Along with these changes, it is intended that some minor bugs in the current match engine will be fixed, a full list of any fixed bugs will be available at the end of the current season..
Anything not listed above, will remain unchanged.

For gods sake! Whats the point of spending weeks perfecting tactics when they're just going to come along and change the rules!?
A thought on Cashin not doing what you wanted last week...
Cashin only has solid tactical discipline which means he won't respond as well to tactics compared someone like Matthews who's at brilliant.

good luck in the today game!

Tactical disipline doesn't really make all that much difference.
From what I can see it influences things like how quickly a player reacts in moving from square to square when the ball moves. You see it most in springing and setting offside lines so comparing players like Cashin and Matthews who are both pacey strikers you can get a more exact placement with Matthews. I'd agree it isn't huge but it can make a big enough difference for that style of player.
Then again it could all be in my head :)

I had two keepers injured and had to buy a new keeper and the first few games when his tactical discipline was 0 his performance was much worse than it is now that he has gained some experience.
anyway congrats on 5-1 against Bolivia. The one touch pass by Sanabria to Cashin and his volley to 3-0 was a spectacular moment. good job.

I wasn't happy with the 2nd half performance after the way we started. I want Executors goals record but i dont think our forwards do. Cant complain too much with a 5-1 win though.
I've just turned down a request from Sweden to play a U-21 game next week. At a guess it'll take a couple of seasons before our U-21 side is strong enough.

That was a great selection and a great formation :) I think you suffered from that too many shots syndrome that I seem to get sometimes. If you're on top too much it keeps you from winning 20-0 by increasing the chances to goals ratio.
Hopefully the form of the mids will continue to rise. I've been amazed at times how well we've done playing a mid heavy formation when their form has been so low for most of the season.
The formation didn't need much alteration really. It's got to the point now where i'm happy with almost all of the base tactics so i just made a few changes and it was fine. I have a new one i want to try out but i'm waiting for the right game as i'm not willing to gamble on it going wrong.
We're not far from the top 30 now. I'm pretty sure we'll make it if we can avoid defeat in the next 5 games. I'm still disappointed about Chile. That was an important game and we lost badly.

We're getting closer to the draw for the groups and it's important we dont drop any places so unless i can find opposition i'm happy we can beat, the national team will be taking the 28th off.
we can beat anyone nin, you can do it.
how would not playing at all effect the rankings? Not sure how the points thing works.

It wouldn't effect the rankings at all. No points won or lost. On average you'll gain or lose about 25 points. A loss at this stage would be a disaster so i'm quite pleased the Switzerland game has been cancelled.
I think you could have beaten the swiss.
there's only 30 points bewteen us and wales in 34th. that's not a whole lot so from what your saying.
Have you anyone lined up at all?

You have more confidence in me than i do. The Swiss are a very good team and we'd struggle against them, Austria are similar. I looked at them and didn't fancy our chances. The rankings arent always accurate.
I wanted Wales but didn't get a reply. Israel would have been acceptable as well.
I think given the choice of risking 30pnts or just staying as you are i'll keep what i've got.
