Subject: Ireland Vs...

2010-08-07 00:27:13
xD
maybe the Shamrock?

in Chile we have many Irish and descendents (even, the "father of the fatherland" of Chile is "irish", Bernardo O´Higgins). The St Patrick´s day we have celebrations with all green, parties, even beer :P...

aren´t stereotyping, only was a image xD
if it was really an insult, sorry :(

@shane: yeah, the chili pepper rocker is funny, I don´t have problem with that, it happens all the time xDD

and thanks again!

@zastarovje: ahhhgg fear

Don't worry it wasn't insulting :) I actually really appreciate the efforts you two have made this week and will be looking forward to what the future brings.

btw if you're looking for inspiration for great Irish victories as far as I remember you were involved in this one , just on the wrong side :) Check out the ace formations ;)

wow, in that times, kun_ro was the coach, it´s not my fault :P
as Chile coach I played 2 times vs Ireland.

@Welchy: I hate you! :p I remember that, was after of the Mini WC, you destroyed my moment of glory.

anyway, also I remember this (but I don´t remember who was Ireland´s coach, maybe NIN?)
2010-08-07 13:12:52
That formation looks way too crude to be Nin :) It actually looks like a formation I'd have done or maybe Jirka. Either way, point made ;)

well, we had bad luck.

we was better in all stats, but goals... :(
I think that with Curley, in this match probably would have won by many goals (maybe 5-3. or more)

42%----Possession----58%
70%----Play in the half----30%
4----Shots----10

this is the only one stat that Uruguay was better...

74.1----average mark----69.1

anyway, I think that we can win the Mini WC, this was alone the beginning :)

edit: the result was 3 - 3
edit2: sorry saarumarc for the injury of McGoldrick
edit3: I´m very happy with my debut :)

I thought you we're planning on playing Mehrtens up front?

Nice result though
2010-08-07 23:54:49
yeap, but I decided in the last hours change to Mehrtens x Redmond.
principally the reason was pace, because, the "low" pace of Mehrtens maybe could be negative in game (with the ball on the grass).

probably in air attack, his height (1.81), could be better that Redmond, but in that moment, I preferred try with Redmond, and in the second half, trying air attack with Cully.

Congrats on your debut Black!! It was a very unlucky start with the missed penalty and the 0-3 down in the first half. You came back very nicely and overall could have gotten the victory.

In regards to the Irish descendents in Chile and influence above all, I can totally speak of!!! xD

Personally, even though it has nothing to do with the fact that one of my grandmothers was originally from Ireland, I have been involved in the Irish "culture" (the Chilean way I can only assume) for many years. Including being in an Irish Tap Dancing academy for 2 years and playing the Irish Low Whistle and Bodhran.

I wanted to add this just to show how much Irish music and traditions are kept in Chile. There are many bands here that dedicate themselves to Irish Folk music and we also have a yearly Festival where musicians such as Andy Irvine (who I had the pleasure of meeting), he use to be a founding member of the band "Planxty", have given us the pleasure to participate in.
(
I have some good friends who can play very well the Irish Bagpipe as well (which is my favorite one, it has a much clearer and sweeter tone than all other Bagpipes in my opinion).

Anyway... Im very content that a Chilean is the DT of Ireland and has been accepted warmly so, and I hope that this will be the start of a great season for your country.

Wow- after thirty minutes you must have been screaming at the screen :)- they didn't deserve the lead and in the end you were really unlucky not to win. I thought the midfield was great, it looked awkward sometimes when they were in line with the defence but attacking they created chance after chance. Like you said if Curley had played you would have won easily.

If you can outsmart every manager like you did here you'll have a great chance in the MWC :)

I seem to remember in my 2nd game being 3-0 down against Chile only to draw 3-3.
And yeah, that's not my formation. I think it might have been Geg

Oh and I haven't watched the game but the stats look good, the formation looks fine and you seem to have picked the best players with the exception of Corey Hogan who shouldn't even be in the squad.

You really have it out for Hogan don't you ;)

Wow- after thirty minutes you must have been screaming at the screen :)

in the failed penalty I said "Oh sh"!"
the 1st goal "Oh fu&%"
the 2d goal "mamma mia"
and in the 3st goal "I´ll like die"

@Nin: Corey Hogan in these moment have chances for the low form, or low stamina of the rest of defenders.

and in the played minutes yesterday, he played nice (few minutes but good)

@alvaro: yeap, nice group, Australia looks strong, will be a nice match, I think that we can win this group with 9pts, even, with 7pts, it depends of the goal average
