Subject: Ireland Vs...

2010-10-10 04:18:37
sorry for my absence these days, my granfather is sick (on the hospital), and the diagnostic isn´t good...

well, was a nice match, interesting.
important victory for rise on the rank

result 5-1, and in all this season, only we have 1 lose, vs Belarus in Mini WC semi-finals, I think a excellent season

very much so. congrats man a really good start!
sorry to hear about your family illness.. hope he improves anyway.
so long as you can set a team and tactics even if you dont have the time to give us an indepth analysis i think its ok.

another win!
we played vs Costa Rica, with 10 players almost all the match.
was a bored match, but with a strong defensive (and with 4 DEF), and low effectivity in attack.

anyway, we´ll rise in rank, again...

our mark today was interesting (73.1), I think that our potential can be more (maybe 75 or more)

Seeing a 5-3-2 from you is strange. WHy did you used such a tactic if it is well know that the ME doesn't like such tactics? Imho Ireland lost not only due to tactic but also from some ME advantage given to Moldova due to your 5-3-2.

Can i ask you why did you choose this tactic?
2010-10-30 15:59:18
thats a bit harsh
2010-10-30 18:33:34
5-3-2 is very workable but certainly not like that. For what's supposed to be a centrally defensive formation, that was far far too much space left for Moldova to work with.

sorry, i didn't want to look that harsh.

I know some teams still use 5-3-2. with 2 CM and 1 winger. this kinda works. But imho the use of 5 def-line vs a bit weaker team its not the best option.

For instance these kind of tactics:

first example

second one

IT was the easiest examples to find for me, but more teams use such a line-up and it is quite effective.

If Blackend made a bit of analysis of Modova would've saw that our coach mostly play centered(defence), most of time he doesn't close the wings.
Once i risked to play against Moldova with 2 wingers:

this line-up

please do not consider my messages as a harsh critique.Blackend was using other kind of tactics and is having GREAT results with Ireland, i just want him not get overconfident

I supposed that Moldova would play with 1 winger, but that not ocurred.
was a disaster, and I´m very ashamed.

I think that the tactic works "good" until the red card to Curley... then, the offensive opportunities were zero, and Moldova taked all goal opportunities.

the tactic, isn´t so bad, but in this match looks and works horrible. because all factors played against, and it´s my fault.

the 5-3-2 works nice, but certainly the 5-3-2 of today no.

I tested a new 5-3-2 (if you see all my matches, 5-3-2 is a regular tactic in my "tactic catalog"), but doesn´t work... in other matches works well, it depend of the opponent.

the "ME advantage" it depends of the 5-3-2 type, and, how I said, of the opponent.

anyway, today was a tactic error, not about ME

the 5-3-2 with low defence isn't very likely to work, while a 5-3-2 with a winger plus high defence always works fine. i even tried once such a tactic with Sweden.

so... was a defeat vs England.
the match was interesting, the 1st half, England had better chances, his effectivity was high.
on the 2d half, our team, rising the level, and with the substitutions of Dull and Sanabria, for Redmond and Holt, maybe we had the chance of draw or maybe win this match (clear oportunities), but the England´s goalkeeper and low effectivity, not allowed us take goals :(

I think England today wasn´t better that our team, but his effectivity was high; with the injuries ( Corscadden, Falvey) and the red cards (Curley and Synnott) in another match, we should win to teams of this level (top 32, and 2d place in the WC qualifying group)

To anyone using the database, be careful of retiring players and in particular, David Falvey. His manager buggered his id code when he updated him and now, despite me creating a new correct account and deleting the wrong one, the database update still doesn't like him.

nin i can manually remove him from the ntdb OR change his code to the correct PID if you wish

If I haven't already done it then go ahead. Do you know what's causing this problem?
