I think firing Colbert is a big big mistake, he was one of our best defenders last season and Freyne is older. I cant remember much about Larkin at the moment.

The tactic didnt work because you didnt stretch them. To play 1 upfront you need to be able to get them the ball. Playing a diamond in the midfield with 1 winger meant they easily marked out the 2 players available to pass to and were never stretched enough on the wings.
Look at the stats and you'll see we were in our own half far too much because the defence couldnt get the ball out. 1 upfront can work really well as i showed last season but you need to sort the midfield out.

Colberts skills were not good enough i wouldnt use him, there was no use keeping him, same applies for Treanor in Midfield.

You are probably right about tactics, but i wanted to be strong in the middle and we were, but I kept the midfield players too deep and their 2 DEFMids marked them...

He's only 27 as well. Age doesn't matter until you're 28 at least. If it does Armstrong, Cashin, Chaudet, Walsh and Hulka should all be dropped too.

i lost the first match and i understand you are upset. you have every right to be.

It is not the age, it was his skills that are not going to improve due to his age. And according to skills i have available he was only 12 defense and we have many others on the same level with better defense. We may have a different view on what skills are important for defenders but the way i see it he was not up to it and with his low PM he couldnt be used even as defMID.

I dont care about age its only the skills.

At the end of the day Sweden have better players than us so the result wasn't exactly a shock. I like what you tried with the formation- it didn't work out today but don't let it get you down too much :) Without injury and form problems you' would have had a stronger midfield to work with- we don't seem to have huge quality outside our best eleven at the mo.

Looking at the game again if,for example you could have played Crossley or Lizzraga (both injured) instead of Lally things could have been a bit different. With Lally as your out ball and him losing possession a lot it skewed the way the game turned out.

I'm in the same boat- I wish I could play Crossley instead of Lally on sunday :)

Thanks Shane, the tactics was designed for Lizzraga on the wing, i then noticed he was out and decided to stick with it.

I looked at minimal requirements of Hungarian NT and it didnt improve very much on my mood ;)

I forgot you're a mod and are able to check what skills a player had when last listed. It's still too late though unless you can get this rule changed or get him released.

You do realise that if you actually manage to do that there will be an outcry from every other national manager who has lost players to a flawed system.

i think that there is no chances for that, but allways i can ask admins.
