When does the world cup draw happen? I'm looking to run in the South African election but i want to see the scheduel and who'd we'd be playing before i commit solidly to it.

This weekend I'd say! ;-)
Unfortunately we're again in the same pot as the new countries ... :-(

We're about 50/50 in terms of getting a good 4th seed team. We do need to start climbing the rankings though. We were 28th when i quit, we're 34th now. Admittedly it only gets more difficult to maintain that position.

i think monday, but i'm not sure...

My recollection is that the draw is around the time of the update on Saturday. I'm quite certain the groups are drawn before this weekend's NT matches.

cheers for the effort anyway ganz, pity you didnt fancy giving the job a go in a world cup year. best of luck with your club efforts

Age updates have happened. No sign of the world cup draw yet
2008-05-30 13:25:17
I meant the weekly update (not the annual age & wage update). I still expect the groups before NT matches this weekend. :)

I've decided to run in South Africa, although i stand absolutely no chance.

Had you declared you candidacy earlier in the week, I think you would have stood a good chance. But once the current manager made his endorsement, it was pretty much over (given the size of the voting pool).

A shame. A manager of your prowess could have done something with the squad. The strikers are a little weak, but the rest of the team is ok.

It wasn't something i was even considering earlier in the week but the SIC draw was early and went so smoothly i felt i had the time to run somewhere. The reason i withdrew was i remembered i'd already committed myself to the Ireland assistant job. There was also the possibility of us drawing South Africa in the world cup and there was no way i'd run South Africa over us.

Well that's a very interesting world cup draw. Not only should we qualify, i think we're capable of winning that group.

1. Argentina 0 0 0 0 0-0 0
2. Česká republika 0 0 0 0 0-0 0
3. Ireland 0 0 0 0 0-0 0
4. Israel 0 0 0 0 0-0 0
5. Hellas 0 0 0 0 0-0 0
6. Ecuador 0 0 0 0 0-0 0

Are you out of your mind? :) That's not a good draw for Ireland. Israel and Greece are both respectable teams, and the Czech Republic is one of the toughest #2 seeds. I don't think it could have gone much worse. :S

I completely agree with you! :-(

Israel, Hellas and Ecuador are almost the best teams from their pots! Switzerland for example plays against Hayastan, Ghana and Honduras!
Awful draw I'd say, but still there's a chance to qualify!

Argentina is the weakest team from pot 1, Czech Republic is average from pot 2, the other three teams are among the best in their pots.

We have chances to steal points from the top 2, but we won't have an easy win ...

With Nin as assistant U can´t miss this... I would say it´s a very easy draw for Ireland and anything except first spot would be a failure :D
