Subject: Ireland Vs...
Is that the Czech team that just lost 5-2 to Australia? ;)
There's no doubt you've got the stronger squad but you're far from untouchable.

Thanks Nin! i've just was considered what film should i see tonight... and "the Untaouchables" would be great:)
So Jirka, tell me about this Czech Republic team? How do I beat them? ;)
Depends on who wins the elections, but i suggest you focus on winning all other matches :)
as for the friendly against Australia, the current manager is totally demotivated, he just used a line=up and tactics from a match earlier this season and played 3/4/3.

I'm a little slow getting around to watching the match this weekend.
I too was surprised to see the post game stats. I had the impression Ireland was the better side, and thought they deserved some kind of result from this match.
I thought Dean really struggled. I found it topical that Matthews utilized his tackling skills on numerous occasions. :)
There was something from this match that I found curious. I use that kind of offensive midfield frequently (two somewhat central offensive mids & a winger). I normally place the better passing offensive mid on the same side as the winger - any pass to a winger is difficult given the proximity of the sideline. But in this match the far-side offensive mid made numerous attempts to hit the winger (I think this was because there was a lot of room in the Scottish defensive midfield) - a lot of these attempts went out of play. Makes me think the better passing offensive mid should perhaps be on the opposite side as compared to the winger? Do you agree? Or was this match a bit of an aberration?
(PS - I'm not looking for information about Crossley and Coyne - just curious to hear your insight.)

I've noticed that in my club games, it can get quite annoying sometimes :) Your idea makes a lot of sense, I'd usually have the best passer on the wingers side but as that guy has a 'straighter' pass to make it could be the wrong decision. Also, I try to use the opposite side mid as a quasi winger for throwins on that side so it would make sense to have a good passer there for that.
I'll have to try that out :)

If you dont run the winger so close to the touchline it's not such an issue.
Push the winger too far in and he isn't as effective though. It's all sliding scales and 50/50 calls again :)

I'd say angles and distances are the key points. I never put my wingers on the touchline for 2 reasons. Firstly passes to them are more likely to go out and secondly, it's harder for them to cross the ball from that position.
1. Argentina 0 0 0 0 0-0 0
2. Česká republika 0 0 0 0 0-0 0
3. Ireland 0 0 0 0 0-0 0
4. Israel 0 0 0 0 0-0 0
5. Hellas 0 0 0 0 0-0 0
6. Ecuador 0 0 0 0 0-0 0
Are you out of your mind? :) That's not a good draw for Ireland. Israel and Greece are both respectable teams, and the Czech Republic is one of the toughest #2 seeds. I don't think it could have gone much worse. :S
Argentina, weakest of the top seeds in my opinion and the rankings say the same.
Czech Rep are currently on the slide. A new manager will be coming in and it always takes a while to settle.
Israel. Not bad but we're better than them and any sort of performance should see us win both games.
Greece. Pretty much the same as Israel. I doubt they've improved massively since we beat them 5-0.
Ecuador. Shouldnt offer any sort of competition.

No doubt they'll be difficult to beat but we've done it before.
before... look how many users they have, and compare to ireland. they are now much more stronger than 3 seasons ago, when You played with them.
Same ammount of users they had last time. Yes theyre stronger but so are we.
I've never really noticed this before (at least not to the extent seen in this match). It makes me think that normally that passing lane (between the far offensive mid & winger) is occupied (and that the usual pass is far O-mid to near O-mid to winger).
I think I'll keep my better passer on the winger side for now, but it's something I'll be watching. :)
