Subject: Ireland Vs...

LOL. That (the BiH vs. Ireland match) was one of the funniest things I've seen in Sokker in ages. :D

Nice approach from Ireland. Liked the defense and midfield placement. Striker positioning is still too conservative for my tastes.

Striker position was too conservative for my tastes but we didnt know what line they were going to play and i was wary of them playing a high line and trying to catch us offside, i picked a middle ground.

Well we wont go any further in this competition now. As if playing Colombia next week wasnt enough, Donegan, Colbert and Barry-Murphy are all banned for next week. Thats 3 of the 4 central-mids we used today.

Ouch- that's a big problem. On the other hand I've just looked at the Colombian formations and they're very odd. Just going to have a proper look now...

It is a major problem but i have an idea on how to get round it. I need to take a closer look at Colombia first though and i probably wont do that until later this week.

Just looked at a game and I think you'll be able to find a few chinks in the armor :)

best of luck in it!

Hedging a trap explains 2/3 of the pitch. But I don't see how that affects the final 1/3. Curley again took most of his shots from 15-25 yards. I feel he needs to be closer to the net to have a chance to succeed.

But if you feel otherwise I can accept that. I won't mention it again. :)

Well as far as corners go i like the drop the forwards back a step and get away from the defence that usually holds the back line. With everything else i think it's just a case of the midfield passing to him too early.

PM is too high so :P try one of my mids. they stall on the ball for 5 seconds before doing anything XD

Damnit, we just lost Donegan for the next 4 weeks.

Interesting (or not) stat from the national records. I'm now unbeaten in 16 games with the national team, stretching back to August 2007 when we lost to Sweden in the quarter-final of the mini world cup. It's another trip to the quarters today which could end that run. Still in that time we've survived or beaten Mexico, Argentina, Australia, Slovenija, Colombia, Canada and Belarus. Long may it continue
2008-11-08 19:22:44
We absolutely did not deserve that.

*Points to above post* - Kiss of death. :P

Good try against Colombia. The red card opened up the passing lane to the winger - thought it would have helped more then it did. Colombia's strikers were just a little too much for Ireland's back line.

The defence performed pretty poorly. They didnt deal with the Colombian forwards at all. We won shots, territory and posession, cant ask for much more. The scoreline is not a fair reflection of the game.

Colombian players are a class or two better, the result is a reflection of that. Especially the offensive players.
