sweeeeet victory.

Freyen was very good, Lizrraga was great and Terry was shining like a star.

Great tactics with thick midfield and solid in the back. thought it was tad bit too offensive when the ball was in the middle. Otherwise great job. Congratulations.

and Merry Christmas everyone :)

It was a good result, i'm not so sure it was a great performance. The goals we scored were all due to mistakes by them, we didn't actually create very much.
I'd have liked to see what would have happened with Armstrong on the pitch. It sorted of ruined my plans because i wanted to see how that midfield operates.
Our defence looked pretty solid for once. I think they only scored because Armstrong wasn't around to stop the long pass. At 1-1 and a man down i was a bit concerned at how things would go but i barely noticed a difference.
Next week will be a big test. When i was arranging the games i was running out of options and accepted games that i didn't necessarily want to play. Turkey was one of them. They're lowly ranked but they're pretty good and it could be our first defeat, which would be a double slap in the face because it'll hurt our ranking even more. However, we're unbeaten in 4 games, our forwards look good, the defence finally looks solid and even the mids are starting to get it together. After a shakey start we're rolling now. It'll be very tough to get into that top 30, we're still about 200 points short with 12 games left so by a rough guess we'd need 9 wins out of 12 but i think it can be done so bring it on!

Looking at it I think you're a bit hard on yourself with the self-criticism. Your formation meant we controlled the game, it was very hard for Sweden to clear their lines with a bank of 4 (or 3) waiting in midfield for them. Having a proper DM protected the defence much more than your previous games so that even with 10 men we were never stretched. The % involvement of our players tells a good story in that regard, high for the mids and low for the defs which also helped us retain the ball a bit better.

Saying we didn't create is perhaps a bit true, but all our goals came from balls whipped into the box, the more times you do that the more chance the ball will bounce off a defender to a striker which is what happened. Perhaps it might be an idea to stagger the 2 oms a bit to have one playing almost in the hole to support the striker. Another option would be to go with 2 dms to free up the wingers to play a bit further forward.
