I've been trying to train Irish players since i started but i've never been able to get anyone good enough. I would have liked to have kept Tilbrant but he didnt fit in with my training at all.
I do keep looking at the money and thinking "You could buy a pretty good team with that" but i'm holding off for now. The plan is to have the new team by this time next season as i dont want to go into the lowest division.
I think this isn't a terrible idea really. The game has changed a fair bit in the year i've been here and what i had built the team for isn't as relevant anymore, so a new start was in order. I've not worked out the finances yet but i'll have 9 mil by the end of the day and hopefully the same when i start rebuilding. Should allow me to get a decent team if i buy at the right time.

lol dun think 9 mill will buy much at the prices that are around at moment! i've been sitting on 7 mill waiting for a decent striker to turn up for a while. not worth my while improving stadium either for a while
2007-08-24 16:33:28
At current prices no but i'm not looking at buying another team for another season. I've worked out how much i can spend on each position and i should be able to get something reasonable for me to build with.

Corey Curley magical 3

fingers crossed!!
2007-08-24 22:13:00
Woo!
I've got one coming next season, i may even be able to get him to Unearthly if i can get myself a magical coach.
2007-08-25 01:34:19
if you ask me prices are only going up and up for the foreseeable future. meanwhile your going to lose a ton of revenue from not competing. your only 3 points off the bottom! all you need to do it get lucky once and you could still be in the prem next season
2007-08-25 02:43:22
I'm not a lucky guy. I sold up because i didn't see myself getting off the bottom of the table with the team i had. I can hardly go back on that now, once i've forfeited one game, it's unfair on everyone not to forfeit the rest.
Prices will go up and down as usual i think, it's just that when they're high it'll be moreso than recently.
I'm probably going to have to take some time off anyway so it made sense.
In theory i shouldnt start losing money until i'm relegated but i'm keeping an eye on that situation.
I was looking at rebuilding after week 7 of next season, if i end up in Division 1:2 i may reconsider and start 7 weeks early.
In the meantime i'm investing in my youth team and not considering any other training setup at this moment.
2007-08-25 10:16:47
ya should be able to invest in your youth team regardless of whether your competing or not! im just saying your throwing away all your revenue from next years cup which is what you have more control over than anything else
2007-08-25 12:50:13
I'm able to invest more in the youth team now.
Financially i'm up 30k today as i expected.
2007-08-25 15:01:58
Remember as well your supporters will drop off in droves after walkovers. You're just going way overboard on this. I'd buy a team and start replacing it with youth players as you get them. It doesn't take too long every week to set some orders.
2007-08-25 15:28:05
I havent forgotten about the supporters. If things start going badly wrong then i'll change tact but there is no point buying at the moment.
I've a couple of good Irish youths coming in 2 weeks, if i have to rebuild quickly then it'll be around them.
2007-08-25 15:36:36
Actually i suppose it might be worth trying to buy some sort of cheap team or players who arent trainees. Depends on the prices really. I'll take a look.
2007-08-25 15:59:57
No it's as i thought. Now isn't the right time to buy. I'll wait a couple of weeks until my youths come in.
