I think you underestimated that formation of Rafas a bit- there's a lot of pace there that presses you hard unless you can move play around them.
2007-07-15 22:50:23
I didnt underestimate them and i've seen that formation before. The idea was that the wingers would go round the space. I assume it didnt happen, i only watched 20 minutes before turning off in disgust.

you need to stop talking about what to be prepared against with me and stick to describing weaknesses in ur own formation:)
2007-07-15 23:07:17
i'll go and check for ya:)
2007-07-15 23:12:18
It was a new formation and I don't think it really worked :) Also GB Rovers have tightened their formation a lot so the result wasn't just my ineptitude.

I'll be going for blood against Gordo next week to make up for this ;)
2007-07-15 23:15:47
Great; use Gordo as your battering ram!

GB Rovers - Bad Tactics 3:1? i'm shocked:)
2007-07-16 08:13:34
ya i decided to finally mess around with my formation for the cup final last year after keeping with the same one for seasons and it got me hammered as well as costing me 2nd place. have had another look at it again and it seemed to work well

my defenders are top notch when it comes to defending/pace so hopefully ill be tough to break down this year rather than the loose attacking wingbacks i had been playing for years
2007-07-16 10:56:45
I suppose i should probably watch it now
2007-07-16 11:29:05
I doubt you'll enjoy it as much as I did:)
2007-07-16 12:04:39
You are correct and i got the tactics completely wrong. Buying better defenders would help a lot but the plan was always to leave that til next season and just try to survive this one, so i spent on the stadium instead.
2007-07-16 12:26:06
Long term that makes sense - a big stadium if you're doing well is like free money!

And it means you will afford players faster once you've given up those first one or two guys.
2007-07-16 12:33:21
True but if i get relegated, i'm f**ked ;)

Surely our NT coach can stay up:)
2007-07-16 14:12:54
That one yesterday was a lot tougher than your old one- my plan of MacKeamish disrupting Brunton backfired badly but apart from that I thought my formation was pretty strong.

Club management and NT management are quite different. I dont have the advantage of a big squad or being able to study all the oppositions previous games (they wont accept my debit card for plus :@).
I dont like offering excuses but 90% of my focus is on the national job, that was fine last season but we're really suffering for it now. However this week should be a different matter as the NT game shouldnt cause any problems. The tactic i used against you yesterday was basically the same as against Greece, what i'm finding out rather quickly though is my team isn't built for it.
