jirka [del] to All
Hi,

my name is Jirka, I am from Czech Republic and i raised an irish NT striker Brendan cully (lately reknown for his "badness", as Nin calls it :). I agree, Ireland has better strikers than Cully at the moment.

Othen than Cully, my only relation to Ireland is that i like Black Bush :). I have been following Irish NT for quite a few seasons now and developed great respect and admiration to your proud, free and straightforward nature. I also feel very proud about my own country, however, it is not as common here. And since there is no strong candidate from Ireland this year, i decided to run for the job.

My club is Boca Seniores. Some of you played Boca this year in Cremartin Invitational. I played in the stronges 3rd division in my country for past three seasons and eventually decided to forfeit my qualification match today. You ask why? One reason is that if i win the Irish NT job, i want to be able to focus on it as much as possible without having to spend too much time with Boca. Second is for economic reasons, I will have a streak of easy wins in lower division, meaning a many new fans and rising sponsor incomes.

As for Sokker tactics, i believe the ideal setup is 442 or 352/343 against weaker opponents. In 442, i tend to play the ManU style with one defending mid and one offensive mid supporting the strikers (needs very high PM), but really i choose each tactics depending on who i play, who i have available and in what form.

Please ask away, articulate your doubts, utter word of encouragement, whatever is on your mind or in your heart...the pitch is Irish and always will be. Hereby please accept my offer to serve Ireland by managing the NT in the coming season.

Jirka

what about formation with 5 def? ireland should play like that against strongest teams, witch are playing with wingers. Have you some experiences with that?

i asking just to ask, i will not start this time:) good luck!

As i've said to you, i thought you were the best candidate and at the moment you have my vote.
I am slightly concerned by the 3 man defence though. Our strength at the moment comes from covering all areas of the pitch, blocking off passing channels and always having a defender in place for wherever the ball goes. With 3 defenders, it is impossible. I tried it for an entire season before giving up as it's unworkable against teams who can use the space.
The same goes for 3 upfront. It's unnecessary and i've found that by having 1 or 2 targets, its easier for the mids to pick them out.
I've looked at your tactics recently and i've been happy with them, there is no major reason to change for this role.

there are number of ways to cover an offensive winger as played by Poland or Czech Rep. this season. 532 is one of them.

If they use such winger over and over again, i would personally mark him. I did it against a team with Czech NT mid in my league match and it worked and i won that match.

thank you Nin.

I mean in games against Hong Kong or Ecuador, I believe you can play 3 defs as you dominate midfield and the defs have much less to do.

But again i have to say 442 would be my choice in most matches and i would only change that for very easy matches.

Suprisingly, it doesnt work as well as you'd expect. I put out 3-4-3 against Paraguay and we only put 5 past them. 3-5-2 against Dominica, we only put 2 past them. They were probably our 2 worst performances this season because the opposition half gets crowded and you end up playing like Arsenal trying to pass it into the net

i also don't like 3 defs - they have to much field to cover, so they can't get the ball fast - so longer takes to start with contratack.

I went through number of matches and really, 3 defs in not very common generally. Somehow it is popular in Czech Republic and i list here several matches where it worked agains SK powerhouses (these are either WC qualifiers or U21 WC matches, no friendlies!)

Česká republika 9 : 0 Bosna i Hercegovina
http://online.sokker.org/comment.php?matchID=2499826

England 0 : 2 Česká republika
http://online.sokker.org/comment.php?matchID=2507830

USA 2 : 3 Česká republika
http://online.sokker.org/comment.php?matchID=2539212

Danmark 1 : 2 Česká republika

However, I repeat I would stick to 442 or 532 in qualification matches, leaving more offensive options open for friendlies against weaker opponents.

No offense to Cambrant or any of the other candidates but I'll be supporting Jirka as well. Best of luck!
If Raul had put himself forward it might have been a more difficult choice for me between two great players but I see Raul is going for Polish NT. Best of luck to you as well Raul!

Ditto on both accounts.

@jirka: you've always shown a very keen interrest in the irish NT and you dont seem the type to go dissapearing or ignoring the opinions of the other irish managers(not that the other candidates would of course) if you were to get the job.
You got my vote
