Subject: Season 9 Youths

2007-12-07 11:01:12
They have had to drop the amount of 'good' youths but everyone's in the same book really. Like Einstein used to say 'it's all relative!'
The advantage we have is with your monitoring of youth pulls we can identify prospects early and make sure they get trained. I still think developing your own youth squad is the best way to progress in this game.

I dont agree with the "Everyone's in the same boat" argument. I'd imagine Poland gets 100's of Magical pulls each season. They can afford to get some rubbush. We're lucky if we get 2, which is why when we do get them, we need them to be decent. The drop in the youth system is a bad thing for any nation with a small userbase.

Assuming the Plus i paid for this morning works out, i'm looking at some sort of competition for next season where the winner will win 2 months worth of Plus (Paid for by myself).
If i actually do it it'll likely be for the best youth team submitted at the start of the season. I may restrict it to clubs outside of the premiership.
Other suggestions are welcome.

I think it backs up what I've been thinking that any kind of 16 or 17 year old is better than a magical 20 year old with the youth system downgrade. Any 16 year old with talent can be trained well past what you'll get with a 20 year old. Its good news for people just starting a youth school as they can get a player quickly that might end up a gem.

Even if people can't get a read on a youths talent or he's going to come out at a low general level it might be worth hanging on to them for a few weeks of training to see how quick they train.

I'm not sure. Given the choice i'd still take a magical 20 year old over a younger player i think. The work is already done on them, you can fit them right into your team and they're not reliant on you having good coaches. I think the rebalance is only good for the new clubs that sell their trainees on, because they cant train the players properly.
It also means less messing around with your training scheduel for weak but talented young players.

Even with bad coaches 16 year olds will increase in lower levels every week or two- I've never been really impressed with any 20 year olds I've got even though they're usually the magicals. Looking at the spread the younger I've got a player the better he's ended up.

I've never been impressed with any trainee i've had. They're always awkward in theyre missing something that i'd rather not train. unfortunately thats the norm for anyone training mids because they need at least 4 skills to be of any use. Gilchrist was my best guy but by the time i'd realised what i was doing he was wasted.
I think if you're training keepers or forwards then it's a benefit to have them young as theyre easier to train whereas getting a young mid with tragic technique though is a nightmare when you've set your plan up to train pace.

i've never kept any of the pulls but some of them were nice and i think economically i am in the black numbers and also by training them i am adding potential to national Sokker pool. However akward they might be, there is always someone willing to train them.

Same here. Up until recently i've always sold my trainees and they've made me some money. Whats frustrated me recently was i got 2 pretty good wingers at the end of last season, one had poor passing but Excellent technique and pace, while the other had excellent technique and passing but no pace. Essentially i had to sacrifice the weaker one because i was fed up of selling all my good players.
At the moment i'm sa on nearly 3 million waiting for a good irish trainee to come up. I always seem to miss them though.

You'd be surprised how players you don't think will fit even out skillwise over the 4-6 seasons you train them. I'm happy for players not even to be viable until they get to 22 or 23. My player Colbert is a good example, he started horribly imbalanced and he's still not close to NT standard but by the end of next season I reckon he'll be one of the first on the teamsheet.
2007-12-08 22:56:50
You can do that though because you've got good enough players to make putting out one weak irrelevant. I also expect you've got much better coaches. I dont think i'm at the level yet when i can get an 18 year old with no pace and assume my coaches will get him to a reasonable level before i'm ready to train him properly. I've only got 3 solid assistants at the moment because i'm spending so much on the actual youth coach.
2007-12-08 23:06:19
what are your coaches ?

i've got 13 main coach and junior coach (they are together unearthy in all skills)

3 assistants are 10 10 11

i have nice staff:) today i find another magical coach, now i have magical in youth, 3x magical assistants, and briliant on first coach:)
