I've got 4 coaches who are all solid in general appraisal and a magical youth coach. The 4 coaches cover Unearthly in 6 skills with switching around.

I'm at 4*brilliant and a magical youth but the gains you get past solid assistants aren't too huge from what I've seen. I didn't start out with these coaches though and was training players like Lizragga, Freyne, MacKeamish and Matthews who are all still NT players with low level coaches. The thing is that I've always (and still do) sacrificed short term gains for long term ones. Nin is right that I can afford to carry a few passengers but even if you have to take a hit for a few seasons I think its worth it.

im on 3 outstanding assistants, wouldn't have thought it was worth having a top notch main coach as i thought only their main skill of training matters? only a brill youth coach myself. it gets to a point when they are just too pricey

definitely agree with you on the 16 yo side of things. remembering the player will get random pops in skills over the seasons which can be quite valuable

It is only the main skill that matters if your main coach is your permanent coach but if you swap him around it's useful to have a high general appraisal as well.

dont normally change training around too often so i just replace him. prob cheaper for me in long run as never costs much to get new one in vs wages

The higher the lvl in his other non trainable skills, the more rdm(general training) pops you will get in those other skills.

IMO, its well worth getting a better HC if you can afford it.

yes i agree also with regards to tactical discipline...

Gerard Dodrill, age 19
value: 111 500 €, wage: 1 150 €
divine form

adequate stamina,
poor pace,
good technique,
very good passing,
hopeless keeper
good defender
unsatisfactory playmaker
average striker

what do you think about him??
2007-12-09 18:04:00
Not bad but needs pace.
2007-12-09 18:05:12
he came out as outstanding
2007-12-09 21:34:40
hmmm im still not so sure. i thought the assistant coaches were important for the rdm pops
2007-12-09 21:38:09
As far as i'm aware it's the main coach that deals with the trainable skill and the assistants that do the other pops. I've never heard otherwise.
2007-12-09 21:38:40
It's all the main coaches individual skills with a modifier from the assistants general ratings for these pops.
2007-12-09 21:44:41
So the main coachs skills x whatever rating for the assistants.
If thats the case i'm changing coach but i've never heard anyone else say it. The assistants have always been a bit of a mystery.
2007-12-09 21:50:28
That's always been my understanding but I've been wrong before :) I know the better the main coach is the better you do out of general training. Whether it's general appraisal or individual skills I'm sure it was the individual skill just like proper training.
