What skill is your youth coach?
To be able to survive reasonably in your division, you wont want to go much over 15 juniors.
I often keep 4 places open, as 6 don't always join and it saves me a bit of money usually.
Remember to keep how many extra slots you want open before Saturday.
Good luck.

Read this in the rules.
junior school.
Watch as they grow each week - possibly. If rubbish, sack them. What level youth team coach do you have?

Ok. If you get a player that takes more than 5-6 weeks to go up a level dump him. Remember to keep 6 places free each week if you can as you get new intake on Saturday. On Thursday they pop, so prune after that.
Good luck.

Do I immediately dump say a YA player at tragic level?
I obviously only have 6 at the moment but how many should I let them get to before it gets too costly?
How do you keep track of thew pops to assess their 'talent'
sorry lots of questions I know!

Personally I dump anything under poor although there are times it might be worth keeping them.
I would suggest you do a little math. Each player costs 600 notes to keep in the academy per week. Work out how many you can afford to run and stick to it. Once you get to about 20 players or more you can start to get a steady stream of players to sell/use coming through. I keep track of youth players by having plus, which gives you a handy graph of their skill however if you root about in the International Sokker forum you can download programs that can help with this sort of stuff, Sokker Organizer being one of the better ones for junior assessment.
Just remember to keep more than half an eye on your money as it is critical for the first few seasons, after that things get easier. ;-)

I've kept tragics before when they are say 'tragic 34' - if they are talented and you get a pop on the first week and then pops every 3 or 4 weeks you could end up with a very good or excellent player, but it's marginal, and with the coaches you can afford at the start around the very good overall appraisal it's not worthwhile.
Assume a 7 week pop per junior as a rule of thumb, and if they're going to finish at solid or above then it may be worth keeping them i.e. a 'average 14' could finish as a 'solid' player when he's ready. If they're tlaented assume pops about 5 weeks, so some might be ok if they're talented; you may want to wait till Thursday, see if those ones pop, and sack them if they don't as it will cost the same as sacking them today, plus you at least get to see if they level up on Thursday, after which it may be worth keeping them. That's a very rough way of doing it.
Pops = an increase in level e.g. from poor -> weak. The first pop tells you nothing about a player's talent as they may have been created with a high sublevel in their initial skill. Once you have had one level up, then count the weeks until the next. That number is the number of weeks it takes between 'complete' pops and gives you an indication of their talent. This principle is also true for first team players when you are training them in a skill other than stamina.

I disagree with this. I had a player popping every 6 weeks with a very good coach who then popped in 4.6 with a formidable coach.
He is currently popping every 2 weeks in pace in my squad. With that level of coach i would sack anything with 7-8 talent or higher.
You will probably be able to afford to keep a maximum of 20 juniors open at any one time, depending on your squad size and wage of coaches.

Spencer Hollis good 17 Reject
Timmy Price average 17 Reject
I would only keep these 2 and change the number of places in your JS to 8.

yes thanks I done this (increased slots to 8 and sacked all but thebest two).
I have a youth who is 'good' but has 25 weeks to go. I've had him for 8 weeks and he hasn't popped yet, do i sack him?
I'd keep him for 4 more weeks, he could still come out as excellent, and you could get lucky.
It will be difficult selling a 12 week popper though, and you wouldn't want to keep him even if he is a good pull!
I would get rid and save your money on another place.
