Thing is I have decided anything a very good is no where near worth keeping and personally I try to go for players that are going to be formidable + or they get kicked. This is with an outstanding coach. Basically for a few weeks you have to accept lots of people into your squad and if you get a crap one axe it asap. give them ultimatums suchs as you little punk if you dont pop by next week Im getting rid of you. Then if they fail to pop get rid of em.

Those are for slow poppers who arnt going to make formidable. Personally I only try to keep the best buts it up to you. Soem peopel go for quantity.

yes. without a doubt. Even with a rubbish coach, an 8 week wait is terrible!

I generally follow your approach of wanting formidable - but 2 exceptions

if they are talented and will be at least solid - under 4 weeks with my incredible coach - I have a wonderful excellent with max talent in training

also if they will possibly be 16 and at least solid and have some talent - they won't be in you squad long and could pay off

My approach could explain why I get so many old players lol. Damn 20 years old almost already past prime trainng and their proper trainign hasnt begun.
