dylanos [del] to All
ok so on next saturday's update i will go -£300k, therefore i will technically be bankrupt. i need to sell one or 2 players, but i want to wait until my 2 youhs graduate on thrursday... 1 will be outstanding + 4 or Incredible +0 (4.75/5.0 week talent), the other will be verygood +2 (6wk talent).
my question is, is the risk too high? should I just sell a player this week? if i wait not only do i get the youths, but i also tap the saturday afternoon trf market.

sell 2 players that will bring in the money but remember as you are selling you have to pay an auction fee, dont make the fee too high but make it at an acceptable rate. And also with that incredible junior that is going to be drafted and the very good i would say, sell bothe and get your money, do you know some selling techniques?

dumbnuts, if he is in debt, beyond 150k, how can he set an auction fee?

dylanos, if you have any players you think could bring in 30-50k, but aren't really important players, I would look to sell one of those, stops you from going bankrupt, and gives you time to pull the youth players.

Also he doesn't know how good thr youths will be/what they will sell for.

thanks ken. there will be no auction fee, as if you are over £150k in debt you cannot list the player with a minimum value.
i only need to sell 1 player as the guy i will sell will go for around £150k i imagine.
i feel it might be better to wait, as even the older player may get a training pop on thursday morning. also, if the outstanding/incredible junior has good distribution he might sell for a lot of cash and i might not need to sell my older midfielder. or he might be perfect to train...
the verygood+2 will definitely be sold unless he is worthless in which case he can rot on my bench as a reserve filler

The rules reckon that once you hit that -£300k mark you have 24 hours of being able to log in to put your affairs in order. If you're listing players on Thursday that will be fine.

You'll be able to log in all Saturday, so if for some reason your youths don't sell you can list someone else.

After 24 hours you can't log in again until you're back over the limit, but once you are back over you're ok.

was thinking about the stopgap option... only have 17 players at the moment - 1st team plus striker trainees. selling a trainee would be too short term at this point, selling a first teamer before i know where my youths might fit in...

Will you be over the limit bearing in mind you have a home game this week?
2007-12-09 16:41:05
this is what i was thinking... i guess really i wanted a more experienced player like yourself to validate my idea. will then curse you if it goes tits-up!
i think as you say i can always list a star player on saturday night if i don't sell the players i list on thursday afternoon. if i list someone worth £250k plus for £0 then i'm bound to get enough to stay alive a week or 2 more.
i have some high-hope youths coming this season, and sponsor money and fans increasing weekly, so should be able to juggle survival

you got plus, use it to the best advantage
2007-12-09 16:42:18
am now £285k in debt... will be £265k(ish) before saturday update. on saturday will then go -£325k(ish)

You'd have to be crazy unlucky for an outstanding youth not to at the very least bring you back over the bankruptcy limit.

I think you'll be fine.
2007-12-09 16:45:44
what are your coaches like? what are their wages?
2007-12-09 19:33:34
my coach wages are high but they will be fine for next season as I am guaranteed promotion (more or less). The issue is very much temporary. I think I will definitely go for the 'eait and sell on thursday afternoon' option, as this gives me the most flexibility and I think the risk is very minimal. thanks everyone for the input

just make sure you don't go burst mate
2007-12-10 08:08:39
thanks mate

You'd have to be crazy unlucky...

Ha... just realised I'm screwed! This is the best my youth school has had to offer so far:

Formidable +3 - 4wk talent
Harry Blount, age 20
adequate stamina
poor pace
hopeless technique
unsatisfactory passing
tragic keeper
solid defender
excellent playmaker
hopeless striker

I'm guessing my Outstanding+4/Incredible+0 will be a 20yr old with equally poor distribution worth about a fiver!
