I stated similar, although being more recently new, you have more of a clue of what you can afford in striker trainees.
I said age 16, with pace+tech+striker hopefully 15 or higher.
Not sure if that is affordable or not though?

This player cost me just £6 at 20 yrs old, I have not trained him at all, but had I been training stamina and then pace he would have definately improved far more. He can achieve almost 30 rating in midfield which is definately enough for a new team in IV.
Fabiano Inglês, age: 21
value: 43 350 £, wage: 495 £
club: Longfield Tigers, country: Portugal
magical form, poor tactical discipline
bookings:
solid stamina, hopeless keeper
average pace, weak defender
adequate technique, average playmaker
good passing, tragic striker
As for my striker trainees, I bought 1 with the following skills for 10k.
Pace Average, Technique Average and Scoring Average. He is now 19 and I was lucky to get what must have been a talented player he now has:
Incredible Pace, Excellent Technique and Very Good Scoring.
The main thing that I will say is that you should always leave money in the bank at the start as you will lose money for at least a season to start with.
Also train long term, I am still training 3 of my original trainees. The rest I have replaced to make a small amount of money and to also get more talented players in.

Thats good, I am giving near identical advice.
Just making sure!!

I haven´t read this thread, but here are my suggestions:
1. Don`t care about the results in first 2-3 seasons.
2. Spend as much as possible for trainees (16-19y.) The older the better they have to be.
3. Don`t build your arena
4. Be patient and just keep your players under good training.

I had a guy I introduced lately, he had an original squad member that I told him to sell straight away. He got 600k the lucky thing, it helped him shape his whole team, I advised hime to keep £500k to spend at the end of the season which he is doing. I was not lucky with my original players but sometimes new players can strike it rich with original squad members.

To be fair you can achieve good results in your 2nd season with good tactics, especially in IV. I managed promotion in my first season and my Iv was the hardest in England, I had the 5th best ratings but tactics were everything.
thanks...I have started the process and i am currently bidding on about a dozen players.
