Subject: Cup Run?

Having, surprisingly, survived the 1st round of the cup, I've drawn a team that I may have an outside chance of getting past if I play my 1st team (and he doesn't).

However, is there any real upside in even trying to get through, or does it make more sense to focus on the league? My stadium is tiny, so financially it's not much help. Are there any other benefits?

slightly extra training and that little bit more money. Don't ruin your league though unless you can get really far :)

Nice win by the way!

Yeah, ox is right, but don't forget home or away cup matches splits the revenue, so if you can get through and get a Premiership team away you may get some nice gat reciepts.

Always keep the league as a priority though ;o)

Hi, thanks for the answer.
Since my odds of getting "really far" are, clearly, zilch - it looks like I should be dead sensible and concentrate on the the league.

doughnut_jimmy - thanks - I'm still not quite sure how I won it, but can't complain (extra time was dead exciting).

As an aside, the rules say "The teams play one match only, at the stadium of the weaker team." (i.e mine) so it looks like that's out as a possibility

Ah yes, forgot that, then definately keep your eyes on the league ;o)

I think dougnut jimmy was right when he said that drawing a team like mcoi away will mean a huge boost in cash for you!

well I think so anyway! The highest team I ever drew were Vegetarian Corpse Gobblers FC, and I was too new to really see any significance, but I can imagine these teams get a HUGE revenue compared with the division IV teams

Yup, the game is played in the weaker teams stadium which is the problem, but you are more likely to fill your stadium against top opposition than some new IV team, depending on how big your stadium is obviously!

I have found that you can get similar gates from an away friendly playing a generous user with about 10000 covered seats from a series higher.

Youalso need to take into account the oppositions league match. If they lose that, the fans get fed up and not so many turn up for a cup game.

Good point, and just noticed in another thread that you will get slightly more training with a cup run, as players get a bit more training from an official match, of which the cup is one.

I mentioned that in the first post dear jimmy :)

Ah bobbins, missed it :o)
