It was recently suggested on newbie global to upgrade the north stand from benches to seats. Which made me wonder;
Are there any limits to the size of each of the 8 stands in the stadium (or do the costs get higher for larger stands)?
If not, I can't see any reason ever to upgrade the north stand rather than build (more) seats on the south since...
Cost of upgrading 2000 benches to seats (ignoring £15k project cost) = 57k
Extra revenue = 75p * 2000 = £1500 per match giving a "Payback time" of 38 matches (76 weeks)
Cost of building 2000 seats from scratch (ignoring £15k project cost) = 117k
Extra revenue = £4.50 * 2000 = £9000 per match giving a "Payback time" of 13 matches (26 weeks)
Or have I got my sums wrong (or misunderstood) somewhere?...

The extra revenue isn't quite £4.50 for seats from scratch...it's difficult to work out, as you can't have 2000 standing places, but standing places generate £1.20 along the line.
I think some fans won't turn up if there are no benches though (could be wrong), but i think it makes sense financially to go straight from standing to seats if possible, as just to turn benches in to seats without expansion costs £85k+/- (3000).

If a fan can't find his favourite seating type he will upgrade :)
From rules:
Supporters select the cheapest stand from the ones that suit them. However, a spectator is likely to buy a ticket for a stand with a higher cost, if their preferred seat is sold out.
So if you are getting sellouts you will most likely sell out an all seater of the same size.

It is not worth putting seats behind the goal until you have a lot of cash / all seater stadium set up. Ticket prices for benches & seats & benches under roof are all the same behind goal!
Benches 3.75 £
Benches under roof 3.75 £
Seats 3.75 £
Benches 3.75 £
Benches under roof 3.75 £
Seats 3.75 £
things do get slightly more expensive as the size goes up
Yes, i was just making the point that it would sell out.
Hi all - Thanks for the answers, I think I know where I am now.
I have 6k all seater under roof in the north stand currently. To upgrade to 10k (same specs) would cost: 531 000 £ for 4k extra seats, or £132.75 per seat. To upgrade to 20k seats costs 1 926 000 or £137.57 per seat. To go up to 30k seats costs £144.63 per seat. As vance said, it goes up slightly as you go up. 30k in one stand is craziness, so unless you've got a mild form of OCD (see my stadium), you could probably get away with only ever enlarging one side once you've got rid of your terraces and standing places.
To break out E_Cartman's pedant bug, did you subtract the fixed constuction cost from those seat costs?
Also does my stadium make you want to scratch your eyes out?

No because it's a few thou in a couple of mill. Wasn't that bothered. I thought at first it was a bigger increase than that as you got bigger, but as I did the sums found myself arguing the opposite way than I thought I was going to.
And I shan't look at your stadium. I need my eyes.

if you expand 2 parts of your ground at the same time, are you only charged the project execution fee once, or still twice?
