Aye, when I started I bought up pretty much the best YOUNG trainees I could afford and then stuck with there training. I still have 3 of them now...

but back in our day players you buy for £2 are probably worth like 50k now especially 17yo.

I would love to see their skills when bought.

I would love to see how good he would be now if he had the benefit of my 3xmagical assistants and magical head-coach back then!!

I think he would be a beast.

Not quite, I started around 8 months after you anyway!

I still reckon I am a fairly newish user, plenty around who have been playing a fair bit longer.

i think there are a few neat ish eras for when people started

2004 - 2 players
march 2005 - the long termers
later 2005 - aspirants
the rest - beginners

I don't think there's many around that joined pre-2005 to be honest.

So it sounds like I am some kind of pain killing device ;-)

I would certainly say I have high aims though, will be very disappointed if I'm not in the premiership next season!

I agree with the sentiment, but the reality for new players is a bit different now. We have to look at £2 players.

I've played half a season (4 games last + 4 games this). Of my starting players one had solid def skills, one had adequate def skills and every other player was weak or lower. And now I've just sold both players mentioned above as they're over 30!

I've been trying to buy 2 or 3 semi-decent defenders for a few weeks. But if their def skills are good/solid and they're even close to be a starting Div IV player (i.e. have some stamina and a bit of pace and tech) then they're going for £50k upwards, with unproven talent.

At this level, I'm priced out because I make a loss every week with my cash tied up in coaches trying to improve the other laggards I've bought or inherited.

So a £2 punt is often the only option.

Totally. I wish these wrestny managers like Daleg, Phil and the Premiership buffs realise how hard it is to start off these days ;o)

I've not been moaning about it nationally and internationally for nothing.

The amount of cash the IV'ers get in sponsorship is not close to how inflated England and probably Sokker generally has become.

When I had been playing that long I bought Dane Zaninović for the grand total of £19k, he was rubbish then. 2.5 years later I just sold him for £3m
