Subject: juniors
I think it's quite likely that perhaps you weren't following the talent closely, or not having enough places open per week if your best pull was a solid! Either that or you were extremely unlucky!
With an outstanding coach i would be looking at binning anything that pops above 6 weeks; this must be judged by 2 pops, not the first pop.
Treat the first pop in the same way if they are untalented...what i mean by this is if a player has not popped at all after 6 weeks in your junior school you need to sack him, but he may pop in 1 week...it's the pop after this that you need to measure and this will be a good estimate of his talent.
With the same coach throughout, i don't think a player can pop like this: 4, 6, 4, 6...the worst talent a player can have if his first 2 pops were 4 weeks apart would be something like this: 4, 5, 5, 5, 5, 5 which is 4.83. It is more likely that they will either be intermittent 4's and 5's or a couple of one and a few of the other...unless you are talking about players that pop in 3 weeks...as the chances that he will pop again in 3 weeks is quite slim.
Just remember that you can only 'really' start judging their talent after their first couple of pops.
Does this make sense?

It does, thanks...
My only problem was tht by 6 weeks, I'd have had about 20 or so new players to be watching! got a bit overwhelming. I always used to kick players off if they hadn't popped once in the first few weeks... so I wasn't quite right there.
Thanks for that though, It's a lot more clear now... Although I'm gonna remain without a junior school for a while until my finances pick up. Then I'll maybe give it another go... for the 3rd time! lol

That was probably the reason then :D
There are some good programs that you can download that can do the counting for you, and they're free.
I'd highly recommend one if you do not have Plus.

yer I use Apollo... sees to wok well. I also have plus.
But going back to what I said about finances... I've looked into it many times, and it seems like a lot of money per week when, for example, your next decent youth player will join in 6 weeks or so....
Even with ur 6k a week coach, and all the youths tht need paying for weekly... Is it not cheaper just to save all tht money towards a decent young player on the market?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying 'I'm right'... I'm far too inexperienced to say that! lol. Besides DCNeo told me the exact same thing about how good youth schools are, and he also knows his stuff.
Its just financially... to me, it seems risky at the very least!

[I knew you had Plus as i wrote in your Guestbook the other day!]
All i can say is i doubt, over the course of time, anybody will be able to come here and say that they have not made a profit on their junior school, or if they haven't sold their best pulls...have them in their squad as very valuable players.
Untalented players will only cost around £600 x 9 = £4,500, not including the fact the space could be taken by a talented player, or coach costs etc.
On the other hand, often (not always, admittedly!) a player that has reasonable talent and comes out as at least formidable will easily make your money back if sold, and usually a bit more.

hmm yeah... just gotta weigh up the pro's and cons really.
well I'm certainly in no financial state to re-open my youth academy yet.
Thanks for ur help, its a lot clearer now... just gotta wait for the right moment to open it up again now! (being £150k in debt isnt a good moment to think about tht!)

Seems like you could certainly do with a whole revamp anyway...you have some real dinosaurs in your side!
;o)
Good luck in balancing the books anyway.

haha bit of experience to the side never did any harm! :)
wow dinosaurs - have you got 3 million year old players in your squad??.
if so - they should have good playing experience by now, & should be able to teach the young ones a few tricks of the trade?

I play a diplodocus up front and pump loads of high balls up to him and a parasaurolophus. I play a pteranodon and a ramphorhyncus on the wings. Ankylosaurus and Stegasaurus are my defensive rocks.
Stegasaurus has to be a mistake. Their spikes would puncture the balls, and there's too much of a resemblance to the Arsenal back four of the late 80s.
LOL - that is a formation that would take some beating for sure.
Albeit with such life experience within his ranks, they probably know whats going to happen anyway before the game even starts!.
What about a Tyrannosaurus rex as a tough biting midfilder, & a couple of clever Velociraptors as cunning wingers?.

Defence has never been my strong point. Maybe that's where I'm going wrong. I'll replace him with a Dimetrodon.
Edit: actually, Dimetrodon is probably best off in goals.

Quite happy with my wingers, so I could play velociraptor at fullback?
Good idea - smart & snappy little buggers.
Would certainly give the other big glory boys a few things to consider, if they played them a few bad balls at the back.

That's because you got rid of Tillbrant. He was a right ken he was.
