When is the best time to sack a coach.
Is there a day when you can sack a coach without having to pay for his departure

No there isnt a day which you can sack for free and the best time to sack a coach is on Friday. As the coach have finished training the players.
depends on if you want the new coach in time for that week's training. but definitely do not HIRE a new coach thursday - saturday, as you will pay the salary in a week when they do not give any training. I would say the best day to hire is Sunday - Wednesday, as then your new coach determins that weeks training, but you do not pay the weekly salary until Saturday.

Ken is actually right Dylan, the best day to fire is Friday, or after the training updated on Thursday.
Remember the coach needs to be set Wendesday night/Thursday morning for the training to take place ;o)

not arguing re firing, as you & ken say Friday is best as it avoids the salary update - my point was on hiring - and i repeat, do not hire until after the saturday updates as you will be paying wages for a week in which the coach has no effect

Although by sacking a coach before recruiting or buying a replacement, you're effectively commiting yourself to having to find a replacement (and the associated costs).
I try my luck each Thursday at recruiting a new magical or unearthly coach. As most of them aren't what I'm looking for, the coach I've just recruited normally gets sacked, so it just costs the recruitment cost. If I keep them to replace an existing coach, I pay the cost of sacking an existing bod too, but I'd sooner do it this way round than getting rid of some of my existing coaches on a Friday and then committing to spending however much after the financial update to replce them.

good point for higher teams, but i'm guessing as a newbie OneTouch is looking for a single unearthly or similar, which will be no problem to replace.
You're missing a trick guys.
You bid for your new coach anytime from Sunday onwards, you then fire your existing coach after the training update on Thursday, but don't bring in your new coach until after salaries are paid on Saturday.
This way you never fire without having a new coach in the wings.

Good idea. That's dependent on it being coaches that you've bought off the transfer market, rather than ones that you're recruiting.
very true - I don't have the cash to properly recruit yet. Tried it early season and blew £50k that (for IV) put me in hole.
Now I only bid - at least I know what I'll be paying and for what!
